Anyone do Trec, we are running one- help!

We are running a low key trec competion in a couple of weeks and we have never done it before.
Can some one explain in simple terms whats involved and the scoring systems.
We will be modifing it a little so its easy and straightforward for novices.

Are you doing the orienteering phase? That is the most complicated part! There is quite a lot of advice on the BHS website:

Get hold of a rule book quick! If you look on the BHS website you will see what groups and clubs there are, so contact the secretary to find out if there is acompetitor in your area who could help.

The scoring system is quite complicated, but if you are doing a low-key event on your own yard you could put whatever scoring system you want. You need quite a lot of helpers, to put out the course, help with judging etc and keep the score, and then add it up. YOu also need quite a lot of equipment and a measuring tape/stick.

It is good fun though, I wish there were more informal events so we could all practice more.
