Oooooooooo, I would have loved to have entered my girl, but I'm not into showing really. You will be fine and I'm sure you will enjoy it. Good Luck. What horse am I looking out for........
A 16hh chestnut with a blaze and one white sock on off hind - the one thats browband will sparkle at 20 miles!!!! (Yellow, gold and navy blue with loads and loads of diamonte!)
Grab me as I come out the ring and say hi! (Having said that you might have to catch me as I come out the ring!)
Actually easier to add photo!!! We are on the left.
He is a general all rounder really, reschooled him off the track and he started doing unaff dressage really well, then we affiliated and kept doing well and the the colic struck! I nearly lost him twice between Dec last year and May this year.... He came back into work in June after having been plaved on a specialist diet and a wonderful supplement that everyone raves about on here! and we've had three outings showing (showing was never really my thing but I thought it was a little less intense than dressage to get him back out and about and since then I've got the showing bug and have now purchased copious amounts of browbands and ties to match and booked him in for a few other shows in forthcoming months)
Silly mare, you say about legs not being terribly straight.... TARRA tend to ignore lumps bumps and scars and there is a showing class on at the end of Sept nr Oakham which would be ideal to go to! I'm going along with the ginger again! You can only enter and enjoy the experience regardless of how unstraight the legs are! At least we can sit back and say ours have raced and are not pampered TB's produced for the show ring!
Oh god so you have had a tough time with him then, I know what that is like, my girl tied up a couple of years a go and it was terrible, but with diet and managment she has done really well and so far has been ok........ I'm not really a showing person, I can't stay clean, but did do the SEIB class a few years ago at Moorgreen and enjoyed it, although was alot in the classs compared to what was in it yesterday (6)...... Have you any pictured of him........
Added a picture to the 5th post down, was easier than describing him.... although I could stand him next to your mare and if he was shorter in the back and not still looking so much like a racing machine, you'd think they were twins!
Do come and say hi on Sunday - I'll be the pale deathly white one, grimacing throughout the class! I know we dont stand a chance against all those pampered never been near a race track in their life horses, but it will be an experience I am sure I will never forget! cant wait to tell the grandchildren that I've ridden at Burghley!!!
We'll be watching. One of our very successful local point to pointers who retired last season is entered. Who was your boy in training with and did he do flat or jumps/hurdles?
He was trained by Saeed Bin Suroor of Godolphin, then he went to J Bridger in Surrey and then M Attwater in Notts. Broken winded now, hence the retirement from racing. Did flat racing..... Weirdest thing is whilst he was with Godolphin his name was Bold Artist and when he came out of Godolphin his name was changed to Mr Tuplin.... Not a very succesful racehorse bless him!
Just looked at his history on Racing Post - he didn't exactly 'shine' did he, bless! I'm sure he'll do much better on Sunday. Our local lad actually came 3rd in the Cheltenham Foxhunters in 2005 and won loads of point to points.
mmmm, not the fastest in the pack was he!!! After owning him for two years and knowing him so well I can see why he didn't make the grade - he's far too laid back to be a racer! In fact you have to check he has a pulse some days!
not hoping for much on Sunday, especially against all the FAT produced pampered TB's that have never been near a racetrack in their lives....but the experience will be worth the journey and the entry fee!
Go onto the NCPA website...just run a search on NCPA and then when you get onto their site look through the schedules, this show was postponed due to bad weather.... was meant to be in July bit now being held 30th Sept.... The details should be on there... if not or you can find let me know and I'll get the details and numbers for you.
Hey that makes no difference whatsoever.... ex racer judges are quite used to the ones that wont stand still, although it does help!!! The only way you'll get by that issue is by getting out and doing the classes! I took a friend to a show at Wittering and she was on her 21 year old who absolutely blew his top in the ring but stood there as good as gold... I hasten to add he got sent to the naughty corner!
I'd really like to do the ROR/TARRA classes with my 7year old boy but have hit a snag - he's an imported New Zealand TB and so isn't registered with Wetherby's. He's an ex-sprinter (finished in March 07), won many races in NZ from aged 2 until March. I've got all of his NZ racing record, he's branded, papered etc. but because he's not registered with Wetherby's I can't compete in these classes. Has anyone else had the same trouble?
Ah you see, only 38 and a grandmother to TWO!!! (aaarrrghhhhh). Was made a grnadmother at the grand old age of 36!, second one appeared this year! Did tell daughter that I was only 36 and she said "You were 18 when you had me" My answer, yes I was but my mother wasn't blo**y 36!!!! My mother was a lot older and entitled to be a grandmother!
So you can have a good laugh at the party next year!!! Especially at Granny on the dance floor!
