Anyone else been on a fab long hack today?

not a long hack but my first ride since August last year and ginger boys first ride out at new place! made hubs come too with daughter on her pony but ginger boy was superstar :D

We're dead lucky here - lots of beech woods with bluebells and garlic - absolutely magical!! I want, very much, one day to do the ride across Wales that takes 5 days and ends on Borth beach. This wonderful scenery and weather has made the winter worthwhile. I love my horsey too!

do it, do it!!! I have done it several times on different routes and each time was amazing! even in foul weather it was great, but thank god for sat navs in the fog! i have kept all maps and routes if you want route advise PM me if you want...

if you use saddle bags (you may need to get your horse used to carrying them) you can do without luggage transfer - you just need to 'seed' your overnight stops with horse feed and a dry saddlecloth or two. it might work out cheaper if you all did it together to do it independently arranging each overnight stop yourselves... watch out I will have organised this for you if your not careful! I just know how much fun it was when i did it. my father and i did it together.

He is such a super star :p

Can't wait to get out for some proper meaty hacks over the summer :)

Not today but yesterday went out for two hours. Live near westbury white horse so lots of lovely cantering up on the top of the hill.

3 hours this morning, with two others. We love to explore and, although we have some fantastic hacking around us, it gets a bit samey after 5 years. So we went off to some extra hacking and found a cute little wood that was totally deserted! Great fun, there were even a couple of logs to jump so we did. Mate put it on her Map My Run app and we did 16.1 km.

My new yard goes straight up on the South Downs way.

Have say I am so lucky that I have a horse who hacks anywhere and I have all this to explore.

Going out Tomo, I just had a bareback play about tonight :)

where are you? we used to do lots of walking along the south downs way, i used to spend the 6 wks holiday at henfield with the kids

Yes, 17 k, quite challenging as lots of rain recently, really hilly, up to 900 metres in places, with steep descents. Average speed unremarkable 6.7 kmph.
Whole routel impeccably signed and a refreshment stop half way round.
For refreshments read, black pudding, local ham, dried porc sausage, Brie, Cantal, blissfull bread, duck pate, pork pate, local red wine and coffee.
Option of a long lunch back at the meet up.
Blissfull way to ride on a Holiday Monday .
