My motivation is at zero!!! Going to the yard has been muck out do hay and feed bring in and pick feet out. Pony hasn't had her rug off in a week and resembles a hippo!
It's just so wet and horrible and the ground is rubbish. We don't have a school so it's either hire locally or hack! I walk dogs as part of my job so I spend all day covered in mud and slightly damp the thought of removing mud from pony and actually getting on her isn't an exciting one!!! However I have a dressage lesson on Friday so I will hack tomorrow morning I WILL!!!

Please take your rug off your horse. I haven't been riding much recently due to the weather, but she always has her rug off each day and then put back on to reposition it.

I wouldn't say I'm lazy, no. I bring in three, feed 8, turn out two, muck out 5, muck out the sand turnout (where the three I brought in have just spent 17 hours) and all before I sit down for my breakfast! Then I have an hours break and start swapping horses over for their daily turnout, skipping out as I go. Then finally turn back out the night timers and muck out their stables. I have not ridden properly for months. But I am far too exhausted! I finally finish around 4.30 pm but am back out for night time feeds, skip out and hay up at 9.30 pm.

Yep lazy, though I do check under rug daily either sticking hand down front & back ( checking for sweat/rubs, or I take off for few hours if dry to have a good itch, just mucking out & feeding can't ride as to wet & no access to school, no point cleaning legs (feather) as just get covered straight away.

My day is similar to Wagtails, 7 in to feed, turn out, muck out, haynets etc, just get finished in time to start all again in reverse but these last couple of days have been bright and I have actually managed to exercise properly without getting soaked.
This morning 2 worked in the school then 2 hacked, helper today makes things a little easier, this afternoon being bright made me get onto a bit of trimming so several tails trimmed and one started to be pulled as it was really thick, it felt like a really productive day, what a difference some sunshine makes.

Haha I do check and reposition :) I am not that lazy! It's just the riding. I think riding tomorrow will restart the motivation but I don't think she is that bothered :) I am out ATM from 6am till 7pm dog walking and looking after various peoples children and the 3hr round trip to the yard and then coming home and editing photos. I had two weeks off over Xmas and the shock of going back to walking nearly 10miles everyday has exhausted me! Fitness needs to come back! I have noticed that it's lighter later now though and the horses are staying out till 4 now! Very soon it will be spring :)

We have not ridden for few weeks, my son absolutely refused to ride in wind and rain, and can't say I blame him, someone rode sash few times this week, but it's forcast bit better sat so should get out and about. Horses have not been fussed bout standing in stable with pouring rain and wind outside, as long as they have hay to munch on. Fields are v wet anyway. We mostly use our sand turnouts anyway. It's been lot more work with them in more and more expensive feed wise.

I cant be bothered to ride mine!
Got some lessons booked though, keep me motivated and have something to practice then! :)

ETA its because me day goes-

Yard at 8 to turn out my 2
8.30 ish start work
11.30 to 12 finish!
12-back up yard to sort out my stables etc
2-afternoon work
4-off home!

Might start going yard super early again to get mucked out so I can ride after morning job is done

I've not ridden for a couple weeks now annoyingly, the weather has been horrendous and the yard completely underwater but we tacked up this morning to only get about 25yards up the lane and came across bale wrap strewn all across the road and the farmers dog trying to herd us. very annoying I gave up after that as the dog wouldn't ****** off and big red just span faster and faster, he must of been dizzy!

Well I have just booked us in for a jump clinic on the 8th of feb so now have a goal to resume normal routine! Before Xmas I was riding 5 times a week!

They are all getting fed & going out for a few hours each day , every time I go to yard I end up looking like a drowned rat - so I have no inclination to ride at the moment - what I would do to have indoor barn style stables & an indoor school - roll on the Summer - seriously though things could be a lot worse we only have a bit of mud & aren't on any flood alerts

I have three to do in a evening that all live out. I can tell you now in the dark, wind and peeing rain I do not take each of their rugs off and re position. Call me lazy ;)

I am jealous!! We have had a small lake outside our stables and every time I bring in and they all run to the gate I get splattered with mud it's well half up to my knees around the gate now!

Not that I would swop it! I love the yard I am on it's made by the people and the truly amazing hacking! I tried the full livery axing school xc course and I was miserable

Snap with the laziness. Our school is bogged out, the hill that we're on the top of is frosty and I'm scared he'll slip and tbh the weather is just too vile for me- plus I'm waiting find payday to invest in a decent pair of waterproofs!
I get the bus to and from the stables too- so my routine is very quick and if he gets a good groom it's an hour long to take up the time until the next bus! 😒

Our arena has been flooded and the flood lights not working, we have an indoor but it's so small and dusty that it's only really been suitable for short leg stretches :( the floodlights were working tonight so I rode for 45 minutes and fly went so well that it's really picked up my motivation. Actually starting to enjoy flatwork these days!

(raises hand tentatively) I have no motivation or energy atm, I go up and sort my lad at 6am and again after work around 6pm, hes out all day with plenty of grass though it resembles a lake/mud bath atm, and in at night with a quick rugs off, groom, check, feed etc but even at weekends I seem to have no oompf to do any riding, i rode a couple of evenings in the school but after about 20mins both of us were fed up slopping through the sand. Its that time of year really short days, starting and finishing the day in darkness, I think I go through it every year for a couple of months! Sometimes (whispers) even finding the will to drag my bum up to the yard to do the basics is a chore when the alarm goes off at 0545 I'd much rather hide under the duvet ;)

Feeling all your pain....Leave the house in the morning in the dark come home after dark...our 10 horses and ponies, one full time job, one daughter full time school but competing and rugby prac and games, and one pregnant daughter who doesn't really want to help.....just knackered at the mo. But motivation on way going to see a lovely looking 17.3 WB this weekend just for ME instead of being just a slave to my children looking forward to riding again......

nope, competitive nature over rides weather, darkness, anything!

i get up at 6, quickly load/un load dishwasher/washing machine/tumble drier, quick house tidy up etc-i always do it first thing as in the evenings i just couldnt face it, plus if OH's son is with us, he makes mess as quick as i can clear it lol! leave house at 6.30.

arrive yard 6.45, muck out 2 (as lovely NMT gets up even earlier to be on time for work so turns all 4 out), sweep out tack room and do any quick chores eg mending elec fence or swapping batteries etc. Poo pick all 4 paddocks.

in to parents house for 7.45, poo pick the cats litter (lol), top up food and water and feed my little devil. shower, change etc and leave house 8.25 to be at desk 8.30.

lunch time often involves picking up horsey feed, odds and sods from tack shop or farm.

leave work 4.30 , back to parents for 4.35 and either teach then ride, or ride then teach. on average get home 7.30pm.

god bless NMT who does the cocoa shift at 10pm :)

couldnt do it without floodlights!

I've done the opposite recently. Was up at 6.30 on Saturday to ride before going out sale shopping for the day, was up again at 7.30 on Sunday to ride before the rain was due to start (just got back in time) and have ridden 2 evenings this week already:). I normally think I've been good if I manage it once:o. New year's resolution was to get M properly fit this year and so far so good. Not sure it'll last though;). I've been lucky that I've managed to dodge rain so far - more by luck than judgement, but I generally don't ride in the rain unless a lesson forces me to.

I think I'm feeling very smug - ridden 4 times this week and today bathed and polished horse with my new horse shower (very good BTW) in my nice warm IR heated stable... and he looks beautiful and I've hired an indoor for tomorrow's lesson ... Yes definitely smug. (dont' worry this won't last long :0)

Well to the ponies horror I rode her this morning despite several dramas before 9am with other horses! She was super lovely forward and soft we trotted merrily through the village and managed a little canter on least sloppy bit of bridle path! We came across an ambulance with lights and sirens and once again she proved how bombproof she is! Bumped into a friend from another yard and hacked a little bit with her overall successful resurrection of motivation very much looking forward to dressage lesson tomorrow now!

I'm struggling to ride and it's part laziness. I don't really seem to have the motivation but hoping that event seasob planning will help.

I'm leaving home around 7 (having donesome housework) yard at 7.30 / 8 to muck out turn out and get eveverything ready so they can just come in in the evening.

Leave for work by 9.00 work 9.30 - anywhere from 7 onwards. Back to the yard anytime between 7.30 and 8.45 or later to get them in then home to bed!

Once Jan is over I'll have a bit more time!

I think everyone is in the same boat at the moment it's pretty rubbish but we are getting 7mins more daylight every week whoop!!!
My day starts 6am my busiest day goes like this
6am up and a cup of tea (can not function without) then off down to Peckham to get a little boy ready for school and too school.
Then a 20min train journey a 20min bus journey and a mile walk to the yard (pony gets put out for me) to muck out and sort feeds and hay. A quick hello and check over her in the field and then journey in reverse.
I then walk two vizsla puppies and one whippet in South East London.
I then go to a family to help them with their two girls and Labrador puppy for 3hrs.
Get home at 7 reply to emails and do a couple of hours of editing/website/accounts.
That's two days a week!
Another two I take boy to school walk all the dogs then make the trek to the yard hack/or lesson then muck out and bring the whole yard in. Go home do emails editing etc.
Then one I get to the yard early turn out hack pony muck out come back into London walk the 3 dogs then go and pick three girls up from school take them home do their dinner and supervise homework. I don't do any business work on this day!!
Weekends we have my partners daughter and when I don't have a wedding/family photoshoot/horse photoshoot we spend the whole day at the yard pottering around :)

My get up and go has truly got up and gone!!

My day is up at 5.45am sort out all partners medication and make sure he is up and okay, of to yard for 6.30am turn out, feed and muck out the 2 delinquents, home changed out of wet muddy clothes and to work for 8.30am.
Finish work at 5pm back home get changed, check on partner then to yard to fetch in and feed, change rugs etc. Back home usually for 6.30pm shower, cook dinner, do any washing etc. Care for all partners needs then collapse in a heap hahaha!

Weekends are the only time i get to ride and the weather hasnt been helping my motivation, i try to get on my both days but sometimes just havent got the energy and he has a sunday off to lol! i keep telling myself he is young so is giving him time to mature hehe ;) Hes 4!
Did get out a few times over xmas and to the woods last week which was nice!

Think the weather is not helping us all ;)

That sounds like too much work for anybody.

In a way, I'm glad I don't get to ride at the moment. I really really can't be bothered! Most of my field is ok...but the gate is hideous! I don't want to drag him through it.
I give him a groom, check rugs and stuff and then go home!

We do have a paddling pool though :)
