Anyone else being plagued by horse flies?

Yes and the little beggars have taken a liking to my blood now!! soo painful, I now understand why my neds go ape sh*t when they bite them!
Greenfly, yes loads. Everytime I go anywhere I feel like my skin is crawling coz I have got myself a few passengers from somewhere!

Yes the horseflies are lethal at the moment, and we have zillions of those little green flies too

Marmite is a good repellant as it is full of Vit B and flies hate the smell apparently. I have never tried it myself as I hate the smell too!!

they eat my horses ears a live they always come in bleeding! i have tried masks creams gels sprays and nothing really works!

Same here! My old arthritic mare dragged me in from the field yesterday, she was desperate! Put a fly rug on her today, in 20 yrs have never had to put one on her before.

Tried to work in the school on the big lad, he twigged very quickly that if he gave a shake and then stopped I gave the damm things an almighty whallop!! Needless to say we didn't get much schooling done

I've never seen so many horseflies about, usually just 1 or 2 but we're talking dozens here!

yup. got bitten a few times yesterday and today

luckily the dizzy one doesn't seem too bothered by them, and the other two have fly rugs on.

i have to say that i've had enough of being bitten!

just been for a 2 hour ride and had to be almost constantly whacking flies off the poor pony
