I cant wait, just as soon as the weather settles mine will be out 24x7 and I can have my first lie in since November. Oh total joy! I was hoping for Easter weekend, but the weather looks like its going to be rubbish

When are you going to do it or do you never turn out 100% of the time?

D is already out 24/7 and will only come in if the weather gets REALLY bad!

He is native though....so pretty hardy!

When we had that horrible frost/snow last month I went up and his leg hair had icicles on!! But he was fine :P

I can't wait either! Tilly was left out last night with her stable open and yard open so if she wanted to come in she could. But sadly Asbo was in because of the grass.

But the poo picking will be abit more though, but i can cope with that fine

.

Tilly will hopefully be out 24/7, but as for Asbo pony i am sure he will have to come in because of the grass. But atleast that is one less to muck out, so instead of mucking out two i only have Asbo to muck out - and he luckly (sp) isnt a messy pony!

tried that last night and found ponios had destroyed fencing so they could have the whole field grr so they are in again tonight so i can sort fencing out but again mine r both natives and could have been out 24/7 over winter if i wanted (and if field could cope)

I'm usually counting the days by now and I thought it would be worse this winter as my horse had to come in early this year for a spell of box rest. Actually though I've enjoyed having him in this winter and spending more time with him than when he's turned out. I enjoy doing him before work although I do share bringing in with my friend so do get some nights off. So I'm in no rush to turn out - although my bank balance could do with it being fairly soon!

Hearing how you all have kept your horses out all winter is making me sooo jealous. Am still hoping for just one nice day/night over easter to have a day off getting up early. None of my horses are clipped and they are all at least part native. In fact a friend (well ex friend now actually) commented that one of mine looks like a mule she's so hairy

. OK, OK, I know I sound like I am trying to justify my (planned) cruel act against 3 defenceless quadrupeds, but I'm flipping deperate!

Mine are always out 24/7. They are well rugged & have a field shelter. They only come in at night if the weather's really bad. I don't like mucking out & they don't like being in, so it works out ok!!

Cropi is out 24/7 too, she's done the in during the winter and wintering out and she much prefers being out. She has a field shelter and lots of rugs and she's been fine. She hasn't been cold or sweated once during the winter, its easier too

mine have been out for about a month and a half now, even my very lightweight TB. We have tonnes of grass, and they are doing well, but obviously still well rugged! They aren't keen on coming in now either!

I am very lucky with my yard, seren can live out 24/7
she only comes in occasionally in very, very bad weather and if i want her to have a good feed on hay as it tends to get shared as she cant be bothered to stop her little field mate helping himself

i would never want to go back to not having the option of 24/7 all year round now

Yes I can't wait! I asked the YO the other day and he just laughed

Hopefully in the next few weeks they'll be out then I can take that break from mucking out......

My chap has been all over the place all winter Im afraid, according to my shifts at work.

I had to turn him out last night as had a very early shift start so it saves on work, and I will prob leave him out tonight.

Saying that, I have enjoyed having him in and, luckily, he doesn't really mind.

Mine are out 24/7. I am cruel. Even my 19yr old TB is abandoned to become feral, and endure the weather.
To add insult to injury, as soon as the grass comes through I will fence it off to stop her eating it. I am so mean

PS She can't eat fresh spring grass or she colics
PPS It's not so great - I get up at 6.45am to feed/hay them and poo pick the field, which has a similar gradient to Everest.

My boy (who decided for the first time this year that he was not going to winter out) has been out for about a month (apparently he didnt want to come in anymore, although he has regretted it a few times... and i felt very mean ignoring him pacing at the gate!)

What I now cant wait for is to get the blooming rugs off!!! Im so bored of them now! If it would just be warm and not rain once....

Mine are out 24/7 all year round (bar one) so dont have any issues with crazy horses kicking the doors down! Fields are muddy though but nobody has had any problems (liek mud fever) as a result.

I keep my Wishy out all Winter, bless him. He's well rugged up when it's cold and seems quite happy. He once had his rug stolen from his back by some scally (if i'd have got hold of them i would have throttled them!!!) and that was the only night he stayed in as I didn't have a spare warm winter one and he hated it, couldn't wait to get back in the field!!

I chucked mine out two days ago and they are very happy. I think you get a sense of what they want and mine certainly were fed up with coming in. They are clipped (one full, two trace) but they are well rugged up, the field has a lot of natural shelters and they are still being fed, so they seem fine.

Mine's already out 24/7 since a week before christmas! So much easier and he likes it. We have tons of grass though and even tho he's tbx he is getting a bit fat, so may have to bring him off the grass now for a bit.

We've currently got 4 in at night and i can't wait to chuck them out either, like you was hoping for this weekend but not so sure now after looking at the forcast and also our fields have got a bit boggy with the rain again!

24/7???!!!!
I'd just like my horse to go out during the day!! Our fields have been shut since 1st Dec and will be until the ground is good.

HOpe ours can be out soon. Can't wait to not have to muck out. When Rose has her babe and babe is strong enough to be out all the time they will be out with their shelter. I am hoping to put gates on front so can shut them in some lunchtimes for a few hours if very hot.

What is a lie in, anyway?
