Anyone else ever had trouble loading youngsters?

Just wondering if anyone else has ever had a youngster where it loaded fine for first couple of times and then started to not want to load anymore. My youngster used to go on ok a little nervous and it took a little time then YO did something to him and it scared him the next time he went straight on but ever since i haven't been able to get him on i don't know if he is scared or just trying it on! Anyone else had any problems like this with their youngsters

i had a similar problem a few years ago although the pony was 7 he was very inexperienced. i could not even identify what had happened to stop him loading. his problem was he would go half way in & then suddenly reverse out (he broke several breast bars doing this!) i got a long rope & a rope halter (with the double headpiece for more pressure, can't remember what they are called) for loading & spent an afternoon with both ramps of the trailer opened & walking him straight through the trailer. then i got him to halt for a few seconds in the trailer before leading him out & increased the time he was in the trailer. next we shut the ramp once he was in & then let him out & eventually took him for a short trip before unloading. i did this over a few afternoons & he gradually got better & was soon no problem to load at all.

tbh i had many well meaning people when my lad was a youngster offering brushes up bum,lunge lines,giving him a slap etc
They were all told in no uncertain terms to beggar off,i stood with him for as long as it took on the 1st couple of occasions with a scoop of nuts

,never had a problem since!
They can be very easily upset were travelling is concerned,just take your time and your patience will be rewarded!He may have decided that he dosnt want to go in,but eventually he will realise you aint gonna give in and you will stay as long as it takes to get him in,they get bored and give in eventually,just praise every little step
