At his age the price would probably be so low that it is not worth charging for him - if you are giving him away you can be a bit picky about where he goes - to make sure he goes to a good home.
At 21 he could possibly end up being a liability (health wise) - so, 'running costs' could be higher than a younger horse.
No - but after the horse has done all that for her - you would think she would do something for him back i.e loan him, retire him or have him PTS (I don't agree with this personally and think you should honour them in their later years - but it is better than "giving him away")
Will probably end up being sold on as a "14 year old" or end up in France or worse spain or Turkey
I'm sure there are people out there who could and would get lots of enjoyment out of him, he certainly doesn't look on his last legs does he?? It says nothing about him only being a hack or anything, he can probably give someone a few years of fun yet. Plus some horses don't like retirement and go down hill quicker. A mare i ride is 26 and still acts like a 6yr old, we were on the gallops today. She would seize up and get really grumpy and miserable if not in work, she enjoys a good fun hack out more than anything.
If it was a horse that looked a bit poor at that age and/ or had an injury that restricted it i might agree, but many horses live and work well into their 20's now, there's a couple on here still in work at 30+. There's not really much difference between finding him a good home and finding a 10yr old a good home, bad things can happen to anyone.
Good luck to them, they sound like they really love him and care about where he goes and i hope they find a lovely home for him where he will continue to be loved and pampered and enjoy life until his time comes.
ETA: the 26yr old i ride is in better health than any of the others, she can beat any of them in a race and is never sick or sorry. A younger big gelding has no end of problems...
If you read her other ad she's looking to find new homes due to a career commitment. Genuine enough I suppose. Hopefully the older one will go to a good home. I've given a horse away before so can't judge.

I agree with this too

why should a happy healthy pony who enjoys his work be retired or PTS??!! Ok maybe loaning him would make more sense if she's not going to get any money for him, but sounds to me like she genuinely just wants a nice new home for her boy
