Anyone else get VERY excited over small victories?

Background: Av is quite backward thinking, for some reason unbeknown to me occasionally her TB brain just says NO, she shutsdown and WONT go forwards...basically napping. I have got to the point where I can work her through it on her own but if there is another horse that is also saying no there is no way I can get her to pass in front and we have to wait for whoever else is with us to go first....until today!!

For the first time EVER, Av and Hattie (Mum's horse) found a bend in the road very scary and dashed backwards at speed, after some fairly splendid pony club kicking AV PASSED THE SCARY TREE OR LEAF (or whatever it was) IN FRONT!!!!! Hats then realised that she was being left behind and decided a calvalry charge in hot persuit was the way forward...does anyone else have any small but significant victories to share? (preferably the kind that make you very pleased but are too small to gloat to anyone else about!)

Hahaha I had the exact same moment with my tb the other day! It felt awesome!

I felt pretty good last week when I gor fat lazy cob into a consistent outline without him dying of exhaustion on the spot! Fitness training is need methinks!

well done and I know how you feel! I was exhausted after all my pony club kicking- was only meant to be a stroll, turned into a full bloody workout (for me)...its the small things in life!

the small victories are the best! i had a 45 minute stand off with vandi on the edge of a puddle...he went through it eventually!! ha ha

Oh yes, on a daily basis (getting Dizz to go round me rather than through me

). Getting LL out to the field still walking together

Have yet to get the LL still being in the field he was put in two hours ago though...

I know how you feel, out hacking if George sees something scarey he will tend to stop and stare at it and I used to panic and often let him turn round! But now I find I can let him look and then keep his feet moving and he will go past and I feel so pleased, but like you say if I told anyone they would think i was potty!

Haha yep! Yesterday I did a bitte jumping and got up to 3ft3. Not a huge deal, but I was measuring the jump in centimetres and phoned up my dad to ask how big that was in feet when he told me, i was walking on air!

Yes, madam did two dressage tests on Sunday without spooking, napping or planting herself. OK, the marks weren't fab because she wasn't very forwards due to the tropical temperatures and kept admiring herself in the mirror, but a small victory worth waiting for

Def!! Went out on saturday and sunday and had the hacks of my life

coblet was FAB have only cantered him a few times before, only a few steps due to confidence, but we had a few gallops!!!!! I was petrified when my mate said come on lets canter, and felt stupid saying no, so nipped in behind her and as soon as Coblet knew i was going to let him run, his ears were soooo far forward, he loved it!!
when same mate said, lets do some jumps, I didnt mention coblet hadnt jumped before and I havent jumped for 10 years as Im a scaredy cat!! by the end we were jumping ditches, drop fences, steps, and up to 3 foot!!!! apparently I looked like a picture out of thelwell!! jumping with big handful of mane and blonde hair flying every where and a grin from ear to ear with coblets ears right out in front

i love my coblet

mate thought i was barmy as its the usual to her

I dont think i've ever been as thrilled as the last few times i've hacked my horse out and he's been perfect, i.e. no silly spooking! Nice to know he's finally grown up (he's 17!)
