We have literally hundreds of mole hills making our fields lumpy and muddy. My colt also digs them up and makes eveything far worse. Is it just my area that seems to have fields litterally peppered in mole hills or others suffering the same?

Its to do with the cold, they are comming to new ground cos the worms are so far spread, well thats what a farmer told me other day. We have them everywhere.......

Yes! We have. There haven't been any for ages, then suddenly over the last two weeks, about 10 have popped up in various places. In addition to everything you have said, they are also annoying as when I am poo-picking, they masquerade as piles of manure. Very irritating when you wheel the wheelbarrow all the way over there to discover that they are mole hills

i poo pick weekly and my field looks aweful!

put some mole traps down that will sort them. I am more worried about ground giving way under horses cantering round field and breaking leg then killing a few moles.

Yeah we have a mega problem in our fields!!

They were mostly in the field that the horses were in, now ive moved them across to another field, the horses have eaten that down and the moles have come out over there!!

totally confusled about what to do about them though, we are having the older grazing harrowed when it dries out a bit, so imagine that'll flatten em!

There was a mole survey that asked for a count of mole hills on your property. I got to 175 and gave up!! But I couldn't bear to kill a mole, they are such charming little creatures. The bulbs sound like a good idea, will give those a try. The moles amaze me that they can dig such huge amounts of earth even when the soil is thikly frozen. Mole runs aren't a problem to horses they are vey shallow and nothing like rabbit warrens.
