sorry silly self indulgent post, but I've had a really rubbish year and now it is all turning around. In november i brought Lottie an angel of a filly who is two and half years old. In six weeks i have got her used to being rugged, stabled, groomed daily, loading, wearing a bridle and walking out on the roads. She is absolutely perfect. she never puts a foot wrong, and has the sweetest nature ever. She's AA X ISH and I think will make such a lovely little horse. I also have just got another ISH 7yr old who in three weeks has really loosened up in the school, developed fantastic movement and is even mastering lateral movement. Got a new job which has nearly doubled my salary and a brilliant holiday planned with my friends in January. This year has been full of really, really bad lows and some great highs and now I am really looking forward to 2008.
Anyone else and where are you at now!?!

Wow well done you! But you feel so much better now. Yes had a really weird pretty life changing year.. left an abusive relationship, worked out what I want to do with my life, somehow fixed my gelding so that instead of being at the rainbow bridge we're making plans for endurance next year, bought another pony for peanuts and backed her myself, something I never thought I could do. And best of all, will be buying a trailer in the new year so I can realise my dream of going out and competing. Yey

((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) Zigzag.

I've had a pretty $hite year too. Lots of stress, I've lost my Grandad who I absolutley adore and nothing seems to off gone our way, its been pretty crap to put it mildly, BUT I have an amazing husband (and he has a pretty great wife!!) and we have each other, at the end of the day thats all that matters.

3 weeks in Kenya in February hopefully will recharge our batteries and make us stronger again........ready to face another crappy year!!

I had a pants year too. Lost Cat (the horse in my avatar) in Feb after a long, hard battle with Crohn's disease which we thought we'd won, & was made redundant out of the blue in the same week.

Have now got a new job that's far better than the old job, & a new horse who's Cat's twin but without the artistic temperament. I just really want a couple of nice, boring years where nothing much happens & there are no nasty surprises.

had funny year.

down points were selling my pony after 4 years together

and missing out on qualifing for england due to fence judge mistake... and then the rest of my team qualifing as individuals

also my horse getting very sick, and loosing a lot of weight and just not "there" mentally.

up points was gaining enough points in half a season (winning all the workin hunter pony we entered

) and then i rode at dublin horse show. passing all my gcses in style! and selling ponio to a really good home where i will see him often. my horse getting better again - after 5 months off due to illness - and going clear at first PN to finish 9th

him being such a superstar and doing everything i asked him to do.

honestly, i cant wait for 2008. hes gonna be really special in eventing and i cant wait to get some of that potential out. has that "trainable" quality that i cant wait to exploit!
ive had quite a good year, but want next year to be even better!

Yes - Had the one of the worst days of my life this year when my horse Jake had to be suddenly pts at the age of only 15 due to severe colic, having not had a days illness in his life - or at least in the 10 years I owned him. He was my first horse and very very special.
I now have Jerry though!
He is such a great lad - a real confidence giver and quite talented! I miss Jake loads but now I have really bonded with Jerry and I'm really looking forward to 2008 - I might even have a go at the odd competition!!

Yay, what a positive turn around for you. Its uplifting when you've been through a c#*p time, to finally have some good luck. Well done, your horses sound lovely. Hope you have a happy 2008 too.

Had a few ups and downs, gone through 3 livery yards, thought i was going to lose Mia, Angel developed arthritis, my confidence hit a low during the year. Developed Sciatica in my back after an accident.

However ive got 2 healthy foals this summer, both fillies. Found out in July im pregnant after being told i would never have children, started jumping Mae, got OH a horse that he loves to bits, got my own wee car as i dont like driving the freelander (too big lol), caught up with some old friends and now more financially secure to have the horses.

First the good news- this time last year my mare was in Glasgow veterinary hospital with a serious tendon sheath infection and not expected to survive.
After a year of very hard work and ups and downs she is now sound in trot which I thought would never happen.
The bad news is that now Maisie our beautiful Bull Mastiff has got cancer so we are part way though a course of chemo and keeping our finger crossed.
It definately hasn't been one of our best years!

I've had a rubbish year! Dad left his job due to his new employers being the biggest bullies ever, horse managed to come into the new year having just got rid of strangles, got kicked in the field and then laminitus from it! I got average grades for my alevels despite having got high grades last year and my university rejected me so ended up taking a year out and resitting a few exams.

The good news is that horse has been fairly healthy since, apart from a small impaction due to being wormed, is fit and now we have found hay he will eat is putting condition back on. I have got a fantastic saddle as a xmas present (my one and only) so he will be doing affiliated showing in 2008 (my dream - and my last year in ponies) Dad got an even better job where he is happier, and I blagged myself an amazing boyfriend! Hopefully 2008 will bring only good things!

2007 has been sh*te, till November, actually the bad bits started then with mother in hospital, then she was diagnosed with cancer in January, had to have the rottie pts age 9, sister broke leg, while we were having a lot of work done at the house, which meant I had all the work with the horses and dogs, dad went into bladder retention and had to have his prostaqte operated on, then the old Appy had to be pts in October as she wouldn't have lasted the winter. Then the young Appy had all sorts of wierd stuff going on, needed chiro, accupuncture and a new saddle! Then in November it started turning round, Amber fine, sister got back on the big girl, mum seems to be less depressed and dad is back on top form. So fingers crossed that 2008 is better

((hugs)) everyone!

Seems like 2007 has been an eventful year for lots of ppl-mostly not in good ways.

I came out of winter with a crazy mare & not much confidence, turned it around over summer & even started jumping her again, which we both loved! We managed to get out showjumping for the first time in two years & had a faantastic day & were looking forward to competing more this winter but she was kicked in the field in October & had to be PTS which was devestating. I knew I had to keep going so got on with looking for a new horse &, despite everyone telling me not to go for another TB, I've found my lovely new TB gelding. He's much calmer than my mare was & I feel so happy with him after just a month. Only downside is he's grey & I hate grooming!! I'm now looking forward to 2008, roll on lots more showjumping!

People keep telling me things happen for a reason & they're right. I loved my mare to bits & would never have sold her & would have kept working with her but she could be so difficult & every winter she was a nightmare (she had spinning & rearing perfected) & my confidence took such a hit each time I fell off (lots!!). Now I have a horse who I feel confident on & I'm hopeful we'll have a great partnership. I wouldn't have wished things to happen this way & I miss Kylie (mare) so much but it seems things really do work out in the end.

Fingers crossed for 2008 for everyone else too.

Yep very up and down:
Up because I got my first horse finally after 15 years of saving and my job which was temporary was made permanent when the person I was covering for decided not to return.
Down because I'm just having no luck with new horse, so far she's had strangles (just before the vetting was due), then had loads of time off since buying due to suspected bad back, being kicked, freezemarking requiring done twice and latest is that saddle is not fitting right. Just feel not getting anywhere fast with her.
Also, worst of all, out of the blue my nan died a couple of months back. Going to be so odd this christmas without her

Roll on 2008, although my woes seem small compared to some people's!

i didnt have the best year, horse wise competing was just bad we were so unlucky every time and just had trouble with him so was un happy. but now am looking forward to next year and getting out and having succes on a new horse.
