I have just started clipping my lot AGAIN!! I've put it off as i hate it so much, today i did 3, am home now, have showered and still feel itchy and hairy!! This is the 3rd clip this winter, although one is clipped all summer, they are all well rugged but seem to need doing every 4-5 weeks. How long are your horses going between clips? Just to add mine are all in full work and compete most weeks so they do need doing or they get very hot.

Doing mine tomorrow BUT I have a friend who actually enjoys it so will be holding horse for her ......I hate it , probably because I'm rubbish at it !

Clipped my boy for second time yesterday, after about six weeks from last clip, but needed doing over two weeks ago, he was sooo hairy! Like you i hate it, hair everywhere! even got into my undies! Everyone i know say their horses are growing v.fluffy, so a sure sign we are in for a cold winter. Roll on summer.

Thanks guys, atleast i'm not alone!!! I'm not even enjoying the fact that they've been done now i just keep thinking that i'm going to have to do it all again in a few weeks time!!!

I hate it as well, its worse than doing the housework. I did two of mine last Saturday and got one to do tomorrow. This is my lots second clip, I am one of those that put multiple thin layers on which seems to cut down on the amount of clippping I have to do. Start with a lycra head and neck, vest, summer sheet, fleece, duvet rug, fleece and then top rug this seemed to work last year rather than putting on two thick rugs I find putting thin layers on means I will hopefully only have to clip once more this winter. Oh and I use very fine blades.

Me too - I loathe it. but have to do it - and end up being asked to clip the liveries as well. So I have 3 of mine to do - and have done those twice already. and 3 - 5 liveries which I have done all once and probably have to do them again at least once more. I can't stand the fact it gets in my eyes, up my nose and even gets into my skin. Yuk.

Yep mine is full clipped year round, including hogging and legs. Gaaah I hate hate hate it! Doing him tomorrow

Goes about 6 weeks, although I do let him get quite hairy because I put it off!

I also have to go the 'whole hog' and have to have a wrestling match every 3 weeks for hogged mane and legs...I have had 2 revelations recently tho - first, a set of nice shiny Harry Hall overalls (no hair on me except face and hands) and second, my good chums tell me that tumble drying clothes makes the little needles of hair fall out....not tried that one yet, but the overalls are just brilliant (even tho I know a look a complete tw*t

Completely and utterly. I have woolly bear daughters pony who desperately needs his second clip (you'd think he was about to have the first clip - it's completely grown out already) and I simply cannot summon the energy. I too, would rather clean my house (indeed, anything else) rather than clip him again.

GOD yeah. I have put it off due to injuring my knee and not riding, doing it Sunday

now I should get away with 2 clips instead of three, hurrah! Horse is an ANGEL about it but he's huge with a thick coat, plus I hate my clippers - they are heavy and heat up ridiculously quickly (borrowed a friend's once cos blades were taking too long getting sharpened and realised how easy it could be!!!) but at the price of clippers I have to stick with em. Oh, and the stress of getting lines right! Even though my lad has a hunter so not that hard. Also he grows it all back as quickly as he possibly can. Hate it. But he is a woolly bear atm and hunting next week, so it just can't be put off any longer!

Get Super_Kat to do it - she's bloody fast and does a great job. i think she has clipped half our yard already !

i wouldn't dare clip the Moose, she'd end up looking like nothing on earth. She does need to be clipped now though, she is getting very woolly.

My daughter's woolly bear pony is now clipped. I took him up to the electrical supply in the trailer, so that failing light would not cause problems getting home, and he was done in an hour! Phew, so relieved that's all over with for a few weeks, hopefully no more clipping till mid-late January now. Rude boy absolutely loved having his sheath and surrounding areas clipped!

I clipped for the 3rd time since September. I think Star knows something about the coming winter............. Cooldd. You'd think she'd never been clipped, the amount of hair which came off.
