Hello,

Following on from my earlier posted pictures of Willow has anyone else a Rushmoor bred pony and how did it turn out and what height did it reach?

Just curious as Willow is my first youngster and first New Forest and I am getting addicted

Bless him.

Yes, well I recently sold my Rushmoor, he was fab only about 13.1 but a proper forester and carried every inch of me. Mine did very well showing and also had a heck of a pop in him, I jumped up to 1.15 with him. As to how big your will make depends on her breeding, her sire and dam, and also to some extent how long she was on the forest for.
My rushmoor was my first nf....now 5 on the yard inc my stallion!!! they are a little addictive!

We have a Rushmoor pony at our riding school (Rushmoor Frederick)

He is more an adults pony than a childs (has to be in daisy reins for kids) got a massive jump on him - he is about 13.2hh but thinks he is 16.2hh - fab pony !

I have a rushmoor bred new forest.
Lark Song, my beautiful 3 yr old chestnut mare. Currently being broken & backed.
Training for dressage.
She's my absolute world<3

My first pony, so my first new forest. She's roughly 13.2
Lovely temperament, easy to look after, good conformation & carries herself well.
Very good doer, she came out of winter looking very well considering she lives out.

Horay for the New Forest ponies :)

Willow is walking out on the roads now and taking it all in his stride, wearing his happy mouth bit with great delight and I cannot believe what a gem he is.

Love seeing all your Rushmoor ponies and hearing the characters and habits :)

Can't quite bring myself to ride him so will be popping a kiddie in the saddle ( don't worry body protector / hat etc and adult at head and adult holding child) just til he gets used to having a passenger.

My friend had many! I can remember rushmoor yorkshire duke, rushmoor evermore & think it was rushmoor misty rose (maybe wrong about the rose!) She sold 2 on before been backed but misty was a beautiful mohogany bay that made 14.2hh. My daughter, who was 8/9yrs at the time rode her a few times & she had a cracking pop on her, easily jumped 1.10m!!! Such fantastic ponies! Wish I had bought her myself!! xx

At a small private yard i was at before, the owners went to melton horse sales to buy rugs and came back with a 13.1hh new forest in foal ! she was called Rushmoor Early and the foal was by Knightsway billy boy. she had the most amazing trot and was so gentle, was straight off the forest and was so placid- she even let us sit on her and walk around on her one day.

Have some pictures...

bailey was sold a few years back, think he'd be about 4 now would love to see him again.

I had a Rushmoor bred Newforest She was Rushmoor Ginger Tom. She was an absolute angel however she sadly had to be put down a couple of weeks ago from having a accident in the field (broke her leg) she was around 13.1-13.3hh. So good with children as well. We now have a Rushmoor Gelding who's sire is Rushmoor Crush and Grand-dam is Rushmoor Susannah. So my little girly's relative is still with us. Love the Rushmoor bloodline. Most of them are super super ponies (from word of mouth as well as experience) xxxx

Willow continues to be wise beyond his years. I am riding him now and he is such a super chap. My 6 year old son also rides him and he is so quiet and calm such a true childs pony yet fun enough for a small adult too :D

Sorry to hear you lost your girlie :( Enjoy your gelding - pics ?

I have a 13.2 chestnut new forest gelding who has Rushmoor Playwright in his breeding. He's called Brock Poet and he's a lovely boy. He can have his moments though! Face pulling and food obsession mostly, but a star to ride. My daughter once fell off him out on a hack and ended up on the floor underneath him. He stood absolutely still until she was clear of him even though all the other horses had gone out of sight. He was only 5 at the time bless him!
I can agree about New forest's being addictive, I now have 3 of them. Wonderful ponies with great characters and all of them very sweet and lovable!

What a surprise a Playwright baby being chestnut!!! LOL

What's the breeding of your other 3? I have 7 at present. I have Bakeburn, Millersford, Tiptoe, Mockbeggar and two of my own breeding. :) Hopefully a couple of others cooking too.

Rushmoor Sunrise is a pony that has been very successful at top levels as a working hunter pony, smashing pony. If I was thin enough to ride I would buy a NF pony like a shot, they are very underrated and equally as talented as the more sought after, more expensive Connies

Snow Falcon, 7 and more on the way, that's a lot of New forests! I only have two others apart from Poet. One is a Tynfield mare who's sire is Merrie Madhatter. she's lovely, quirky but lovely! The other has the prefix "wooton heath". He looks like he might be part donkey given the size of his ears!
