Has anyone else had this with their horse?
Last winter was the first time that I had my horse through the winter. he had a really big stable but was separate from any other horse. he would eat every piece of hay and I couldn’t use straw as it would all be gone by the morning. Over the past few days I’ve had use of a different stable which is smaller and means that my horse is in closer proximity to other horses. Ive been able to use straw and still come back to a full bed in the morning and there is always hay left. Has anyone else experienced this and would you consider it normal? I’ve put it down to having company rather than being alone

I'd suspect this ^. Although possibly also the new stable is in a more sheltered spot and warmer with others around so he is eating less to heat himself?

It could also be that his tummy is still quite full as the grass has been growing longer due to the mild weather? ? Is he getting more hay than before?

Mine is definitely eating less when in the stable at the moment. She normally doesn't stop eating, but I think the grass is still so good she doesn't need to top it up with hay.
