Really hoped id have been posting a double happy post in cr unfortunately it hasn't worked out quite so well.
So after a really good trip hunter trialing 2 wks ago for both my mare and my newboy today was round two...

my mare was on early with a super talented young rider whom had done fab on her two wks ago... Unfortunately things didn't go to plan, neither horse or rider error, horse lost her footing after fence 2 where there was a sharp turn... That's where drama began, rider came off and my mare ran in a blind panic... Managed to jump out over a huge gate out of hunter trial course, queue massive panic... Organisers were on the ball and had people immediately out driving looking for her, ive never run so fast and went into a blind panic... Turns out she galloped straight back to yard , about a 25 min walk for humans but she made it back in about 30 seconds flat...now she has been atbthis course once before, gate she scaled was really not obvious so have no clue unless she has built in sat nav how she picked that spot to jump out considering it was hundreds of metres from where rider fell... On route back to yard she nearly ploughed through another livery who was hacking out on her horse...

decision was made to take mare back down as it wasn't a bad fall and organisers were fab and said they could continue and tip around... Unfortunately same thing happened AGAIN, after which organisers scrapped that particular line to fence 3 by taking out the second jump...

my nerves are shot, most importantly rider and horse are both un injured but had my mare come across a car god knows what would have happened. ...

this post makes me sound like a crappy owner:( i just want to bury my head in the sand:(

There really is no point in worrying about what if's ?

Bit harsh!!

I think if this had happened to ourselves or someone we knew we'd be thanking our lucky stars someone wasn't dead!

How awful for you! I hope both get over this ordeal and enjoy their next trip out!

How frightening for you!! You must be like me and have a knack of getting away with things! I and my husband have had many a close escape where things coud have ended much worse than they did, like the two occassions my horses have got away from me out hunting and ended up on roads and when the wheel fell off my husband's pickup and bounced down the road (if it had hit someone it would have killed them). Just count your blessings and carry on :)

As for my weekend so far, pretty good. Going to a clear round type XC tomorrow so hoping it continues to be good :)

This is the first time anything like this has happened to me! Was that shook up just decided not to compete myself. Best of luck to you tomoro, going to take naughty horse for a decent hack tomoro solo and just let us both let off some steam lol.

Oh god :(

They like to worry us don't they!!!

Very glad to hear everyone is okay!!!

Very minor in comparison, but mine had a fall on a hack a few months ago and I was shaking for days! His knees were cut, but not badly considering how dramatic it was, it's impossible not to imagine the what if's in a situation like that!!

Yep, thankfully no one was injured! think i need to sleep for 24 hrs to recover from the whole thing lol... QUOTE=Pigeon;12084601]Oh god :(

Sounds very scary. Was that at Monastry? If so that road is lethal so you were very lucky that there wasn't a accident! You probably needed a stiff drink! Pity you didn't get to go around yourself, Bel Air is on in Ashford this Sunday and it's a lovely course if you want another outing. BTW I also had a c*** weekend, hunter trialling on my young horse and his hind legs went from under him on a corner and we both hit the deck. Thankfully we're ok although I never understood the term 'seeing stars' til now!

Oh god, poor you! A large glass of something alcoholic is in order I think! Hope the mare is none the worse for wear, and the rider too who must feel terrible.

Yep it was! She took the shortcut home through the allotments so thankfully she didn't get onto that main road... Someone was looking down on us for sure! Hope to make bel air, hopefully mare doesn't get notions to leg it up the n11 to get home!

Thankfully rider is totally fine, made sure she was checked over before leaving the grounds , she did Nothing wrong at all and as for naughty horse she is fine as well...serious amount of cold hosing just to make sure legs didn't fill up and she was turned out..

Oh dear!!! Sounds like some desensitisation training to a rider falling off needs to occur before she goes anywhere else! Apparently Kelly Marks has a video where she uses a dummy to train a horse to stop when the rider starts to fall off. Might be worth a look.

She has been out lots and lots since June, but never to a venue as close fo home, we are taking her down to school her about during the week .... QUOTE=FfionWinnie;12086030]Oh dear!!! Yes I have fallen off her before,,,, many a time!

~But first time anyone has fallen off her in acres of open space - how she knew where to jump out of to get home no one knows! Its like she could smell home... All is fine thankfully ,
But surely it was panic because the rider fell off? Has anyone fallen off her before?
