Just finished 3 months box rest for mild strain of DDFT and DSIL in the feet.
I've now got 8 weeks of walking to look forward to and then we reassess.
The worse is being in the feet it needed a MRI to diagnose and I can't afford another one so we won't know how much it's healed. All we can do is bring him back into work really slowly and see what he copes with.

Just to keep me on my toes he has in that time decided to be allergic we don't know what to.
So we're off to Horsepital on Weds for intradermal (SP?) skin tests.

Hi Criso ,how did your vet visit go.
We have another 6 weeks of walking , although there is a big improvement .He is lame on lunge about one step in 4/5 .Vet said that he was happy with progress ,some horses dont improve at all with this injury. I have had back shoes put back on because I have to walk out for up to a hour.Scan on 16th march and another workout fingers crossed for some trot work after this

Well the vet's visit was for allergies and he got 15 positive reactions. As all the lumps vanished at the college they decided something in his environment was causing problems and recommended I move yards after a trial stay.

As the lumps don't really bother him I'm leaving him where he is until we bring him back into work and see what his future is.

Meanwhile the walking is going well considering I have a 6 yo TB out in the big bad world after standing in a box for 3 months. Took him for a little walk for the first time tonight since sunday as the yard has been an ice rink and he behaved, no bouncing at all

His frogs are looking better and he is resigned to the fact no shoes are appearing on his back feet for the moment. I'll see if I can find a quiet time in the school at the weekend to walk round in hand and will probably jump on him in walk in a couple of weeks. At least another 4 - 6 weeks before we even try trotting.

Good Luck with yours - if it all goes to plan we may start trotting at the same time.

Mines a 7 yr old tb so I know what you mean about dreading initial ride .He might surprise you mines been a saint have been taking him out on his own too.Ollies back feet were wearing down so hes back in shoes.Fingers crossed for both of us.
