Laser beams that's interesting. By ACL reconstruction wanted me moving it as much as possible from the day of the Op. No cast or anything. ?? Did you have a graft then?? Sorry, I'm a nerd and am actually interested in medical stuff! Hope you feel better soon!

Really, that's very different to what my consultant told re movement of the ankle! However, he did perform a funky technique called the 'Birmingham Ankle Ligament Reconstruction' which I got the impression was quite new. He basically cut the joint capsule horizontally then overlapped it onto itself then prodded it a lot to cause scar tissue to develop. I think he was also able to stitch in the ends of one of the ruptured ligaments but he said that it was so withered after being injured for so long that he couldnt be sure that it was the ligamant. Fairly gruesome.
I cant move the joint until the scar tissue has developed and hardened as there is the risk I could stretch it thereby rendering the fix useless. I have to say, I've been very impressed with the whole business including the consultant and how the wound is healing although I will have an impressive 4 inch scar in the end. Not had the guts to ask how long it will be until I can ride again - are you able to ride yet? How much longer have you to go on your recovery? Hope it goes swiftly for you!!
