I'm off sick today with a nasty cold. I'm shivering and sniffing. Fortunately new yard will take care of Mollie until tomorrow (that was booked anyway as I'm supposed to be on a sleep-in) so I can go to bed and sleep.

This morning, as I mucked Moll out in the rain and mud, I realised how fed up I am of winter. I know it's been mild, but it's also been wet and dreary and I long for summer.

Just now I looked at some of the pics on posts here and some were taken in summer.... sunshine, glossy summer coats, dry ground, green grass and no soggy wet turnout rugs! :D And the longing got greater.

Roll on summer.

Off to bed now..... sniff.....

I couldn't agree more!!! I cant wait to have my first lay in when Star goes out int he field for the summer... ;)
I also cant wait for the long summer evenings for lovely rides out and just genrally enjoying eachother :)

Spring would do me fine - not so keen on summer due to hard ground, droughts and flies!

However this time of year is always a difficult one for me, as although longing for better weather, spring signals the end of hunting.......

Nope: sweetitch, flys, rock hard ground, sweating buckets if wearing bp!! No, I'd be happy if these bright days continued!

Hope your cold is better soon!

I am just looking forward to them going back out, as will give me more time to ride & play about with them. Don't like the flies etc, but do enjoy giving them a lovely bath on a hot day & nice late afternoon rides :D

Yep i'm longing for summer too. I have a bad back and looking after three is just really hard work with all the mud, rugs and mucking out. I'm hoping i'll be riding again then too so it can't come soon enough for me!!

(off sick today, too! Tummy thing :o )

Agree with the comments about flies, hard ground, drought etc but actually think long evenings, lots of grass, glossy coats and long, leisurely hacks to the pub outweigh the bad things. Probably spring offers the best of all worlds?

It's Spring that I"m looking forward too :) My favourite season.

Me too
The hot summer days means blustery autumn is only round the corner, so rock on late April & early May :D

Mind you, this time last yr it was SO dry I left the fuzzies out from the end of Jan (with the odd night in)

FionaM12, yes pointless post :D but you obviously needed to have a groan ;)
Sorry to hear of wind & rain - here we had ice-scraping of cars 1st thing & the sun has been out since 8 & its lovely, tho chilly :)

TFF, off to count hay left in the barn having heard of a potential 3-4week siberian blast :(

Get well soon Fiona (and Mrs Hutt) x

Yes, this winter has been particularly horrible with ginger horse on box rest/restricted turnout :( though we have been VERY lucky with the weather up here compared to last year.

The evenings are definitely drawing out though :)

Don't think they'll be a drought up here, ground is sodden, and everything is full to the brim

I'm looking forward to me horse being turned out with his friends, and not having to be in his restricted paddock or stable which he's been in since september - will be 7 months by the time he's out :o

Light evenings, hopefully a new job so I can enjoy them and not spend my life working doing bat/newt surveys the whole time ;)

I can't wait for the summer, spring would do too! It's not that long away when you think back a couple of months and how quickly that time has passed.

I hate this wet weather, mud everywhere, wet rugs and short days. It may well have been a mild winter, but give me a sharp frost and a bit of sun any day! I'd put up with frozen pipes and cold hands if only it were dry...

Just read the above and realised it's my most pointless post ever. :D

Bemoaning the lack of summer weather in January is always pointless... :D

Although that doesn't stop me from doing it on a daily basis... :p

I wasn't born to be comfortable in the cold and a water table higher than the land levels...not to mention the wind, continual rain, sleety stuff and miserable, cold and sodden horses...
