I have been struck down with upper resp and stomach viruses since boxing day, on the sofa just wasting away and in pain. Although my horses live out 24/7 I go and see them twice day and poo pick etc but during this time they have just had to get on with it. My hubby has checked them so I know they are ok, I miss them so much and hate being incapacitated, anyone else out there with the bug? Sympathies if you do and for those that don't stay clear because its nasty

God yes! My mum had it for a fortnight and then dad and I went down with it the week before Christmas! It's flipping vile! Even my father has resorted to lemsip max and he has to go to docs tomorrow because it just won't shift! I had a headache for a week straight from my sinuses being blocked, and every part of me ached... Not aching now, for the second day straight but still coughing up crap :( have had to soldier on though as yo been ill in hospital so couldn't flake on Ben :( anyone who has this bug has my utter sympathy. It's the worst I've had in a long time :( x

Hands over a lemsip max strength to op.

I've had it for three weeks, started as a cold and stomach bug then turned into chest infection and perforated eardrum. Still don't feel right and have lost hearing in my right ear. OH had to see to my lad for two days because I couldn't get up for the first time in years. Mind you he really enjoyed himself so every cloud has a silver lining!

Mine started off as flu for the first week and I had two days of work and was sent home on the third ( first time off in 8 years), it then turned into chest infection which lasted two weeks, then a sore throat with ear ache, I am still coughing after 5 1/2 weeks with slight sore throat but am back riding and drinking wine. I lost 9ibs in the first 10 days but unfortunately it is starting to go back on. Everyone at work was amazed that in this time, my horse had the vet twice ( tendon injury) and yet I didn't go to the doctors. According to google there was no point as flu, chest infections, sore throats are all usually viral. I haven't felt this ill in years and feel that the last 5 1/2 weeks have been wasted. My 40th also passed in a blur with me not attending my birthday dinner, drinking wine or eating my birthday cake :(

yup :(

Started as a cold then got steadily worse and ended up on my chest (as well blocked nose and aches ect), had to go to out of hours doc yest and was put on a ventilator as couldnt even draw a breath. Now have inhalers, antibiotics and steroids feel 150% better today though!!

Sending healing vibes to everyone suffering. Been managing the boy but mum and oh been doing all the hard work. But actually rode today for first time in nearly a week!

I'm on my second week of face /sinus pain and temperatures. Doing 3 horses is horrible and probably not helpful.

Ditto all of the above. Can't remember the last time i felt this ill, mine has been going on for about a month now hopefully it has peaked in the last 4 days as have finally been knocked for 6 by it. I looked at nhs website and saw that docs prob won't give meds out as chest infections viral. Plenty of rest and fluids is what chemist told hubby, easier said then done with animals and family to care for. Wouldn't wish this bug on anyone. Get well wishes to all x

Yep, flu :( Felt ill for months now, figured I could have a week off after xmas to chill and recover - go visit relatives who are ill and end up with flu, typical! Been in bed most of the week, felt a bit better yesterday, so typically overdid it and am feeling vile again today, doh. Thankfully my boyfriend is great and has been going to the shops for me & mucking out Dante, feeding the little ones when I can't get out of the car so I just drive. Feels like I will never be better at this rate. Hope everyone else feels better soon! :)

Not had any respiratory infection, but a norovirus has gone round the work. I had it a week before Christmas, and it was evil, as in lying on bathroom floor crying! I hate being sick. Also couldn't venture far from the loo, as there was no warning given.......

Sounds like most people have had a time of it. It must be all this mild weather. Speedy recovery to you all, thanks for sharing x

Me too... It started Xmas eve morning... And today it's a hacking cough, streaming eyes and nose, and feeling sick in general. Not drank all over Xmas. Xmas lunch was on a plate from aunty whose me and son were going to but for sake of everyone else I stayed away and teenager was quite content to stay glued to x box!!! I've found lemsip max good and cold black currant juice soothes my throat. Was going call in sick in morning but work mate has beaten me too it!!!! So got to go in.
There really are some vile bugs out there, thank god the horses are out in the fields till Thursday on their hols...
Get well soon all and happy new year to you all..xx

I had what I think must have been flu...stayed in bed for two days, felt better on the third morning, got up to go and see my horse, got home and virtually collapsed on the stairs and didn't get out of bed again for another three days (apart from bathroom trips). Constant banging headache, shivers and shakes, hacking cough, you name it. The week after was almost as bad; I was up but as weak as a kitten. My OH was a superstar and looked after my horse as well as going to work and making me hot souo and Complan. I feel deep sympathy for anyone else who gets it - it was grim.

I had Sinusitis which lasted for nine weeks! The pressure in my face was unbearable - I ended up having to have two courses of antibiotics as once the first lot wore off it came back. The pressure in my ears just wouldn't go - until I tried ear candles which are amazing! They literally cleared my ears right out and relieved all of the pressure so I am now keeping some handy to use if the pressure returns! Tonight I have had really painful stomach ache and back ache. It has gone off again now but I literally fell asleep at 6.30 pm and just couldn't get warm. Feel a bit better now, just hope it's not the start of some kind of virus after reading some of the above posts!

Oh no!! I have it too! I was hoping it was just a cold that was being rather vicious but seeing all your comments just make me think it's going to linger for longer than I was anticipating!!! Poo!!

I hope the New Year brings us all health!!
