Anyone else putting horses out 24/7

Mine have been out for a couple of weeks now & othe rhorses on the yard are gradually starting to go out 24/7. It's great more time to ride :p

Mine are still in over night and prob will be until at least end of April/May unless we get beautiful weather which drys up the fields over the next couple of weeks!

Still getting frost at night and swampy fields at the mo :(

Hes out already 24/7 and is moulting +++ I am still giving him hay although walking the field today it is starting to sprout I swear since yesterdays sunny weather!

I am cutting the hay down he just had a slither this morning, and hadnt touched a hay net so he is obviously finding food! Good doer too.

Whats nice at the moment is no flies around!

Mine would be but after a wet winter am planning on giving it another week just for the fields sake not the horses. Would hate to leave them out for a week then bring them back in cos the fields getting wrecked. That said, big pony hinting she's not impressed with coming in at night anymore!

Mine been out 24/7 all winter already. Dont know why you wouldnt be chucking your horses out 24/7 especially now its up to 19 degrees in places. Was such a mild winter they all could have stayed out anyway! My fields are bone dry today - absolutely perfect going for riding / lungeing etc.

Would love to, but not allowed until end of the month. Livery yard rules :(

Given my own way they'd be out 24/7 all year though!

i really want to put mine out but just waiting for a little extra grass , as i don't want to put hay out, i have a couple that have to have steamed hay or soaked and really don't want to do that for 6 ,easier if they are in but fingers crossed for the next week or so . really fed up of mucking out and they are getting fed up of being in

Rugged up and threw them out last night for the first time after wintering in at night...

I've had enough of my TB's trashed stable every morning and the fields have dried out somewhat... Even a bit of grass coming through... They come in morning and night for a bite to eat before going back out or being ridden... They did stand by the gate last night and cry, loudly, at having been thrown out in the cold and dark - but I managed to ignore them... :D

I don't really have enough grass yet otherwise they would be out 24/7 as its so lovely and mild! It's growing so think should be good to go by the end of the month.

mine aren't allowed in lol;), yesterday and today the big'uns have been naked during the day and they are loving it, they both gave me the evil eye when i was putting rugs back on last night but it's still a bit chilly once the sun goes down so they have to put up with it a little longer:)

^^^ This. For my area too at least.

Miloh is out 24/7 and so was Meg until a month ago when she got ill. She is on boxrest until her course of steroid treatment finishes, which was yday so if she stays bright and well she'll be out tomorrow :)

Our grass is just starting to grow so probably a couple more weeks... the sooner the better though as my baby is due next week so it would be a BIG help to me! Think muzzle time is approaching too!

He's been out 24/7 since last August. I don't understand why people stabled this year with it being so mild. Obviously I understand yard rules and if you don't have enough grass, but people that take them in 'just because'

Well, 3 of ours have been out 24/7 all winter anyway and now the other two have been chucked out - did that last week. My (almost) fully clipped one was out naked today as it was so warm and the others are all moulting. The field's boggy still in places but drying pretty well and with them being out walking on it it starts to flatten down nicely. We`are still feeding them and giving hay until they can go in the other field in a couple of weeks - that's not been grazed since about August time.

Our fields are dry and the grass is growing. Some of the yard are out but we're showing next weekend and my friend's mare is still feeling the cold a bit more than previous years (even though the winter has been so much milder!). We didn't bring in until the end of November and aimed for Easter being back out at night.
Markie is usually waiting at the gate from about 3 (comes in at 5) and shows no sign of wanting to go back out again, greedy cob!

I've got 3.5 out 24/7/365 one of which is rugged in a med at the most.. The other 2.5 are in 24/7 and one is well rugged, the ponies are naked..

All ours are 24/7 all winter turn out. Hard feeds for ones that need it an hay and Haylage for all. Wouldn't ever go back to stablin regularly again!

Tempted to put mine out 24/7, they were out about this time last year. Both still happy to come in though :( . The tb normally tells me when he wants to stay out! Just the lack of grass that bothers me, so will have to hay! And also if the weather changes as my fields are bogs with just a bit of rain and once the horses are out, if I tried to keep my tb in for a night he'd be climbing the walls! Still tempted though!

Mine were turned into their spring paddock on momdasy. out 24/7 now for 2 months when they will move to another paddock and they may come in during the day then.

mine are out 24/7 all year anyway, been a fab winter they only needed hay when it snowed! ok mine are good doers but even the wimpy tb's at the farm have been out 24/7 with no hay this year.

:mad: Jealous. Mine are out full time, wish I could say that I haven't had to feed hay though, I have just opened my 100th round bale (650lbs) :(

Blankets are off though, such an odd winter we have had. March 9th we had snow on the ground, yesterday it was 16C but went down below zero overnight. The grass is greening up, daffodils are sprouting, frogs are singing, butterflies and bats are out, so are the bugs, we'll be under a foot of snow in April as payback! ;)
