Anyone else really disappointed with Apassionata??

Saw the show tonight, and apart from the guy with the incredible horsemanship and the dun ponies, i was really disapointed. Thought the dressage was sloppy and the whole thing a bit cheesy and unrefined!!


Very sad as have been looking forward to it for months!!! :(

But the donkey was fabulous :)
 
Absolutely not. There were people around us who were saying the piaffe etc wasn't as good as totillas but at the end of the day if they were horses and riders who could compete at international level then they probably would be.

I loved it for what it is, a beautiful show with stunning sets and music and of course lots of gorgeous talented horses and riders. I saw it about this time last year so not sure if its a slightly different show this year? Wish I could see it every year though, even my very unhorsey OH enjoyed it :)

Shame you didn't but guess you can't please everyone...
 
Tbh I think a lot of these horsey shows are made for less horsey people.

I went to see one a few years ago - I forget the name - the show had travelled worldwide. I was very disappointed with it. My non-horsey mother thought it was fantastic and magical. All I saw was horses being bribed with food to do stunts. lol.

I think when you know horses you stop taking displays at face value and can see what is going on more.

I haven't seen Apassionata but I'm guessing it's of the same mould.
 
It might have been Spirit of the Horse you saw Scrunchie, I think that's the one I've seen. I really enjoyed it, but I think I was only about 12 when I went. I don't know what Apassionata is like, but Spirit of the Horse had a lady who worked Arabs at liberty which I loved!
 
OMG I am soooo pleased somone else felt that way. My 5yo daughter LOVED it! She wants to go again! Personally I thought it was very amateur with an awful story line. Actually, I am still not sure what the story was - something about a man wanting to travel and then deciding to come home and marry??

The donkey, duns and stunt riders (especially the one that went right under his horse in full gallop) were very good, the rest was well pretty dire.

With a decent bit of coreography it could have been so much better and the dressage parts were far from perfect.

The end was very slow - those 3 white ponies! Everyone in my area was giggling about the people chasing them around when all they wanted to do was exit fast! We could just imageine someone on the other side of the stage door going "shooo shooo".

Oh and the whole thing was thoroughly ruined by TFL! They closed the Metropolitan Line and made my return journey 2 hours long with a very tired 5 year old!
