Anyone else sick with stupid Swine Flu? (Sorry not horsey)

As per the the title really, am hoping there might be one or 2 others to commiserate with!

I started to feel a little unwell Xmas day, managed to hide it for Boxing Day, drove 300 miles and nearly killed myself the day after that and have been horribly unwell ever since...
 
I've got one colleague who I wouldn't be surprised to find out if the ordinary flu he had turned out to be swine flu as he was very poorly, looked ghastly and has now developed pneumonia too. Hope you start to feel better soon. Half the problem is you don't realise how ill you are as you're so poorly if you see what I mean - colleague likely to be off for another 2 weeks now having struggled back into work last week. Rest up and let it take its course, don't overdo it at all.
 
i had some kind of super swine/bird/cow flu from 1st December, to xmas eve! could'nt shift it, runny nose and headaches for two weeks, then the cough started and more headaches, more dripping tap nose...

:( only just starting to feel 100% again!
 
I had swine flu last year. Not very nice at all and the drugs made me see and hear all kinds of things.
but not wanting to sound like an unsympathetic cow-but you need a doctor to diagnose swine flu and there is no way I would have been able to look at a computer screen last year due to the fact my eyes were so sensitive, I was in bed for 3 weeks unable to move and complications with breathing!
Get to your doctors for confirmation as it could just be a really bad flu virus and not swine flu........sorry for sounding mardy but as I also lost a family realtive to this I dont see the point in talking about swine flu if its not definatly that. And I know flu of any kind is horrible and wouldnt wish on anyone!:o
 
Me too, I'm never ill but was bedridden for a few days last week with it. I had a headache for 2 weeks & then came down with flu symptoms.
Luckily my friends looked after my horse & pony & the kids looked after my hubby but I have honestly never felt worse.

Joking aside!! I have had swine flu and couldnt get out of bed let alone look at a PC. It was diagnosed by a GP directly and not on the phone. that said, any flu affects different people in different ways so just because people have different symptoms and reactions doesnt mean they didnt/dont have it.
 
I have had some horible virus thing recently to. Got it just after xmas and this is the first day that I feel quite normal again. Still got a small cough lingering but apparent from that I seem to be ok- fingers crossed. Spent all my time in bed wishing that I could get out and see the ponio! Had horible shakes and stuff which wasn't nice, and had to cancel our nye plans :( Had 3 days off work, although I hate asking or time off cos I always feel guilty. No way I could have worked tho- felt so weak.

Oh goodness I thought I was very sick, but some of your replies makes me feel like I'm getting off lightly.

Just to clear one thing up though, I'm not sat at a computer. I'm using my blackberry to look at HHO and make this post. I haven't turned the pc on for 2 weeks and that has to be a miracle for me!

I don't know if its swine flu I've got, I only called it that cos that's what my GP called it. All I do know is its made me feel iller than I can remember being for a very long time! So so tired, hateful hallucinations screw your head up, fighting for breath the whole time and little things like food tastes completely wrong (WTF)
 
It's a horrible illness. I had a test, I think a blood test, to show it was swine flu. Had to be sent to labs in Cambridge & took 2 days for results to come back. Really does make you feel awful. Obviously chest x-ray shwed the pneumonia as well.
The drugs made me extremely sick too!

yep i have it! its great lol. i felt ok at xmas went to see a friend who had a "cold" on boxing day and when i got there she said oh no its swine flue :mad::mad: i thought i would maybe be ok and not get it.... erm no. 2 days later i couldnt even move! a dragged myself to the field with my partner helping me to check on the horses and felt like i was going to pass out ever 10 seconds. not nice, still feel very rough atm but alot better than i was. doctor said i should have had the swine flu injection before xmas as i have asthma but never got offered it then! i sure wish i had it though :( wish it would bog off now xx hope everyone else with it feels better soon xx
 
Sorry to hear you're unwell OP. I totally sympathise. My OH got ill on new years eve and then I caught it on Saturday and have been feeling dreadful since - very sore chest, cough, heachache, sore eyes and a very hot head (weird) and am frequently hot one minute and freezing the next. Last night I slept with my electric blanket on FULL all night and I honestly didnt think it was even on!
 
I've not had Swine flu but do have NSPD - Non Specific Poorly Disease. It started 17th Dec and I felt well bad over Christmas some days staying in bed some getting up and going back to bed Bad headaches shivery and Sinusitis. Went away completely Thursday never felt better and now...
Its come back again sneezing coughing at the drop of a hat and shivery.
 
There is a cruel edge to this flu. Let me give you an example, whilst not hungry I was quite enjoying a tiny little something to eat at regular intervals. What I can eat is very limited as my taste has goes to pot (ie anything sweet tastes AWFUL to me at the moment). But with a little trial and error you find something you are enjoying. Then one day you make it and IT TASTES FOUL suddenly.!! I mean why? Its like the mean old flu has to rob you of anything remotely enjoyable. :(
 
Its not good, is it. Mine started on the 12 December with a back ache after I had ridden, which was unlike any back ache I had experienced before. The following day I went to work and came home as I did not even know what planet I was on. I had hot and cold sweats, aches all over my body, sniffles, coughing, vomiting etc, oh and hallucinations whch were pretty horrible. Doctor confirmed it was swine flu and as it was well over 48 hours after the start of it couldnt give me anti-virals. Went to a Board Meeting on 22 December and a staff lunch on the 23rd December and felt so crap I wanted to die. On xmas eve I started to cough like nothing on earth. By 27 December the doctor got called out and diagnosed a chest infection. Have stopped taking the pills now and actually feel human again. Am in work again and everyone is going down with it, so hope I have now got my immunity to it.

I'm getting there now but had Flu (not swine Flu) diagnosed by my dr at end Oct and was signed off for 2 weeks with it, plus antibiotics, was just starting to feel better at beginning December, then got another virus and was signed off again by my Dr and told I must rest!- high temperature, aches, sick, tired, a cough that sounds like a dog barking! have had a sore throat now for nearly 1 month!

Poor you with Swine Flu though :( - hope you feel better soon- theres nothing worse than trying to look after the horses when you feel ill!
