Anyone else still have a naked horse?

2 out of 5 of mine are naked 24/7...yak like NF who is on his winter hols after being backed last summer and sec a who's in light work
2 year old oldenburg in MW as has fine coat but refuses to be stable, clipped welshx in HW and fleece (as of last night) and yearling cob in a LW he was naked up until he had his bits off in Dec, the op really knocked it out of him and he dropped weight, starting to put it back on but dont want to whip the rug off in this cold weather...otherwise he would be naked still :)

People were horrified when they were layering their horses up with an additional rug or 2 tonight because it's darn cold and my 2 have been left in their stables naked:D

When I put MWs on them at -7 my little pony was sweating:eek: So instead of stabled and rugged, they are stabled but have the luxury of a bit more hay to keep them warm. They are both fluffballs and have an inch layer of dried mud on top:rolleyes:

Yes all five of mine, 3 miniaturers, 1 Welsh Sec D and a TBXSec D. All looking well and coping with the cold although I must confess if it gets very wet the cob wears a rug as he doesn't cope with wet very well, bless him he is such a wimp.:D

Yes. Tbs, Welsh x, wb, wb x, Id, idx, cob x all out naked.
Any stabled (not mine) are rugged though and any clipped are rugged.

Then only time mine have needed so far was last march and non stop rain for 3 days. Two got one on to dry out then back off, the rest were still fine.

Yep, native x is living out naked. She has a coat that a yak would be proud of. I do have a rug on standby but only for when it is very cold and wet- so far she has not needed it as is always warm!

I put two out today without rugs. As there were a few snowflakes falling I put the oldie a rug on. I was very glad I did, when I came out of a meeting at 11.30 it was snowing quite heavily. when I got home this afternoon, the snow had stopped and all 3 were absolutely fine.

They do all come in overnight, though.

ISH still naked :D

He was overheating under a LW no fill when it was raining over Christmas, so I took it off. He is now much happier - bar Sunday when it was sleeting sideways, he was grumpy but not shivering - gave him an extra pile of hay, and he cheered up immediately.

It's due to be -7 tonight. He's been out naked down to the -15 we had two years ago, and loves it, he has a real twinkle in his eye :)

My welsh sec D is still out naked - he is very fluffy and warm! He also has lots of hay and plenty of shelter. The Arab he shares his field wit is also out naked and also warm and happy! :)

Both my mini shetties are out and naked. They have a deep field shelter with a huge straw bed in it and judging by the lack of mess and disturbed straw, the big patch of squashed snow & wet bellies they last night chose to sleep outside in the field

I have two out naked ATM (one is never rugged, the other I may clip soon so will be rugged then). Both are a little on the fat side and are therefore only having hay when it's frozen.
