The heat is making it really difficult to work her properly, she is getting so hot and bothered in the school. I lunged her for 20 mins tonight and she was soaked :(

Its so dusty and the tracks are like concrete so only walking with a little trot hacking out. We are not working as much as we should be or want to be, the heat is just sapping all of our energy. Weekends are better as we can get out with the sparrows when its cooler but during the week its very hard to keep up the enthusiasm to ride!!!

I am not moaning about the heat as such as I love it, I just wish we had some rain to get the dust down, soften the tracks and clear the air. We havn't had proper rain for weeks and weeks. I'd like to order sunshine during the day with rain at night please :D

Me too. Its absolutely rubbish. Lil should be working on her fast work but I daren't let her do more than a walk atm.

Her windgalls have come up with the hard ground and the heat, so depressing.

I am walking out hacking and then going in the school to canter, only way I can work it ATM. Ted is suffering from the heat, he gets very sweaty as soon as he sees his saddle LOL!

yes, I gave in and clipped last week which has made the world of difference to his old man coat ;) but lack of school and no rain is proving a problem atm as I do quite like his legs. It does help to keep him fitter/slimmer if I can do a fair amount of jumping/fast work but not happening atm. Would help if I didnt live on the flat too ;)

Even having the horses in stood ontop of rubber mats the mats are just radiating heat :/
Riding isn't too bad - nice surfaced schools & watered indoors so good going for schooling etc. We only have roads for hacking anyway so he's used to just walk and trot.
But the heat! I wanted to give up in my lesson today, was tired just tacking up it was that hot :( Dan sweats buckets anyway for whatever reason so isn't much fun :(
I like rain anyway, I want rain!!

I would do it the other way around and then you are in the school for the shortest amount of time, warm up hacking and then into school, 10 mins schooling and then done :)

Its meant to be pouring with rain all day tomorrow in edinburgh, who would have thought that i actually want it too :D need more rain for the haylage to grow and the grass to grow and so i can have a jumping lesson on grass rather than in the school! i hate jumping in the school :(
