Horses meant to be out overnight at the mo and in during the day.
Turned out at 5pm, just been up to get them back in!!! It's been belting down with rain here, not at all cold, just throwing it down.
TB hates the rain and I knew would be miserable - she was, stood in the same spot I turned her out, head down looking grumpy.
She took herself back into the stable and looked happy as larry to be in. Pony on the other hand just looked confused (she was stood in the middle of the paddock, wet through, not at all bothered, just grazing).
I know I won't be able to rescue her every time it rains, but today I could, so I did. I know she won't really melt, but she's old.
Feel a bit sorry for pony as I'm sure she'd prefer to be out, but old mare is very very special to me and I do spoil her.
Anyone else this soft/stupid?

Yes I've done exactly the same she was shivering and obviously wet through from the constant rain today so she's in and very happy with the arrangement.

I am horse sitting so had to bring all nine in tonight.... They were all by the gate wailing at me! I know it's not cold but I wouldn't like to be out there all night?

Judging by the skid marks and mud from last night, I am now regretting not bringing ours in.

Dreading what I will find tomorrow morning.....sigh

Why can't I just shut the curtains and ignore them.... I do feel like I'm being stalked, every time I leave the house I feel 'eyes watching' Lots of mucking out to do tomorrow, hope the weather improves!!

Aaah so glad it's not just me - was thinking I should just get a grip, it's only August after all. In the winter when I'm out at work she will have to stay out until I finish. Tonight I could get her, so I did. Really thought I'd be slated for being too soft!! So pleased I'm in good company!
Auslander - hope your horse is ok. No doubt call out was after hours, isn't it always?!

Brought my TB in tonight at 5pm. He was in a foul mood. Rain mack soaked through. Pulled me all the way to the yard and even tried to cow kick me twice. Once in his stable, he exhaled and relaxed and tucked into hi s hay net. Really couldnt cope. Its been raining all day and chucking it down now.

I was just thinking that I must go outside to check mine I put them out at about 5 but they have been just standing under the trees most of the evening, if they are still there they willll come in the Arab hates the rain, so no your not alone its worse when they are at home its just too easy to get them in when its horrible, its in for the week and if it continues I will change them over to day turnout.

Would have liked to bring them in but old boy just gets too stiff being in so out it is! Did put rugs on and give them some hay to cheer them up a bit haha.

I'm thinking I might change them back to say turn out. Was hoping to do it at the end of September but if continues like this I'll bite the bullet and do it earlier :) Hard tho as then that will be it until next spring!

Natch!! Thankfully she's not mine, so I won't get the bill for this particular episode!
She's ok - just been to do the first of the two hourly checks. She's full of Finadyne and still a bit groggy from sedation, so hoping its not a false picture, and she's going to have raging colic again at 2 am!

My mare and her pony came in this morning, they've had a belly full of hay and I put them back out with rugs on tonight. I just hope they're behaving themselves as it's tipping down and has been all evening.

I've woken up in the past in the night to hear thunder and lightening and all I could think about was my horses stood out under a tree...I couldn't get back to sleep with worry so I got up and brought them in 😂😂 , they were probably not phased by it but it made me feel better anyway! 😄

No, mine are all out 24/7 with access to good field shelters. Funnily enough most of mine stay out in the rain and use the shelters in the sunshine to get away from the flies.

Aus, hope the mare is ok.

Went up earlier, chucked them a lot of hay, rugged the unrugged pony and put a thicker rug on the others. Mine live out unless its a big thunder/lightening storm. They were standing at the gate but as soon as they had their food and hay they didn't care about being out

I expect mine will be all stood under one small tree, getting wet. Well, the boss pony and her minions will be relatively dry. Some of the others not so much. Makes no sense really since there's a lot of other trees to shelter under. But this one tree is like a clown car...

Mine have rain sheets and have gone in a field with a good line of big trees for the night, their usual field is pretty exposed and it's sideways rain. Today was the first day I've closed the stable bottom doors, they've just had bars across all summer to keep it cool. Today the wind and rain was lashing in.

Oh dear Auslander - hope she's ok :(. At least it's not Spike this time!

Mine's living out at the moment with a field shelter and no stables but seemed quite happy when I went up to do bedtime checks. She's not rugged as she gets v itchy when her coat changes and seems to prefer being naked. Fingers crossed the rain isn't too bad tonight and I stop feeling guilty for not putting her in a stable with a big shavings bed.
