I've just bought one of the wireless ones that I belive were advertised in H&H a couple of months ago.

They seem to have good reviews but I'm interested in hearing how they work for you. Any tips?

I plan to use it for transporting new ponio on monday...ooh precious cargo!

Ah i'd be interested to see the answers to this post - where did you get the camera from? Do let us know how good it is as would be something i'd be interesting in getting.

I have a trailer vision one, which is fine. However it does have interference from being fixed to the windscreen by the provided holder. I tend to get a lot of fuzz, but can still roughly make out what the nags are up to

We use them in the waggon for travelling long distances. When we went down to hickstead last year found them really good, means you dont have to be contantly scrabbling through the cabwhole to check on them.
When we were off down to events this year we travelled 3down in the waggon and with those you can see who travels best where and as we learned very quickly when Wills was taking chunks out of bert's neck

I'd be interested in knowing what camera/where you got it from etc. I was towing today and I hate it when you can't see the horse's head in the rear mirror and front window of the trailer so I would be interested in a similar set up.

I have a camera in my trailer and one on the back of my car. I use the one on the car when I'm reversing (it's a big car and Im not very good at parking it!) and the trailer one when it's hitched up. It's not wireless but I just plug it in from the car to the trailer. The picture quality is superb and it's also got infrared so I can see in the dark with it too. I wouldn't travel without it now!

Mine's from trailer vision. There are 2 and I just bought the cheaper one as there is no wiring at all which is what I need! Bout £180 I think.

I have a camera in my trailer and the monitor in my car, and I am having one fitted in my horsebox when it has been built too. There are many a times I have heard something in the back, pulled over and everything was fine. This way I can just glance down at a screen.

I am travelling my mare and foal on Saturday, so it will be a very welcome addition

If you are talking about Trailer Vision, then that is the one I have. I also used it for my mare foaling and the picture was absolutely perfect and was in colour. I could watch her from a safe distance, even when it was dark (I didn't have to leave a light on) and would recommend them every time.

I have 2 in the wagon - one in the horse bit and one on the back for reversing. They come in handy although the quality isn't great. It was bought off somebody in Hong Kong off e-bay

I'd like to get one but £180 sounds a lot. A while back Aldi were doing a video baby monitor for about £30 which worked up to 100 feet from the unit and had a little portable screen which you could just shove in the cab. They will no doubt have them in again at some point, otherwise it's a trip to Mothercare but would need valium first!

From the depths of my memory - isn't it completely illegal for it to be angled so the driver can see it as it could distract you? I recall someone having to put it on the passenger side floor?

note LEGALLY YOU ARE not allowed TO WATCH whilst driving. YOU MUST turn the monitor away so you CAN not see it whilst driving. I know I am married to police officer.

It can be on the dash but I keep it on the floor and p[assengers can see it. If I am on my own I turn it away and can always pull over to see what is happening.

I hope that's wrong!!!!! We have a DVD player and screen in the middle of the dash so that the kids can watch a movie on long journeys, whoever is driving would also be able to watch it if they wanted to!

Just to clarify it is in fact illegal to 'have a TV screen within sight of the driver' so I'd say DVD players would be a definite no-no.

CCTV on the other hand I'd say would be ok, no more of a distraction than say sat navs, over loud stereos loose dogs or noisy kids. At the end of the day you're not 'watching it' all the time or certainly shouldn't be but until somebody gives it a test run at court we'll never know!

Thanks for your replies everyone. And handy info about the illegal screen situation!

I'm tryng mine out on Monday when I go and pick my new horse up. Luckily a friend of my Mum's who is a trailer/lorry/difficult load driver expert is driving us all on the trip, so I'll be able to sit in the back of the jeep and watch my new boy on TV

That sounds like I'm 13, not 30! - but this has become a bit of a family expedition to collect the new memeber of the clan.
