Very interesting. I would not like Alastairs job of managing these 3 men but they are all a lot more polite than I thought they would be! History in the making and hate to say it but I am impressed on the broad range of topics these guys have to be to discuss, as well as all the facts and figures they need to keep trotting out to back up their arguements.

Plus - anyone else notice that DC and GB keep referring to NC as "Nick" whereas he keeps saying David Cameron and Gordon Brown.

And damm it but they have all clearly had lessons in hiding their body language. Pity!

Yes been watching, interesting to see the 3 of them together. I reckon someone tutored Nick Clegg to always use the questioners name when giving his answer lol.

Still think DC has the edge in terms of public speaking but NC has done (doing) a very good job of not letting this be a completely 2 horse race.. and GB has improved greatly. I actually quite enjoyed it - find watching politicians being interviewed boring (unless by a really good inerviewer) as they talk non stop to prevent answering questions.. and there was a time that all labour could every say was to refer back to how things had changed since the conservatives..

BTW - one of the "rules" was that they all had to shake hands as they exited !

I agree totally, before watching that i really didn't know what the three parties policies were about so been good and like you say there not shouting over each other so we can hear what each have to say

quite impressed really

DC came across as he always does - an ineffectual idiot... so it was good in the respect that it hopefully showed his hopelessness to more people and might stop people voting for him. Nick Clegg was surprisingly good - he was a bit of a faceless non entity before this but with any luck his performance tonight will have gained the Lib Dems lots of votes at the expense of the Tories.

I understand what you are saying and agree with the majority, i couldn't help feeling NC was telling me what i wanted to hear though? do you know what i mean?

The other two seemed to have something to back up what they were saying (very losely backing up though)and they only have this because they have been in power before?

its whether the public decide to give NC the opportunity to prove what he is promising.

Maybe better the devil you know?

in the end we will all get taxed to the hilt for everything won't we

As long as Brown/Labour goes I don't really care what happens at the election. I haven't voted for the last 3 elections and still don't feel pusuaded by any of them but do think we need a change one way or another so might rouse myself out of my apathy this time

At the end of the day money needs to be raised to increase public spending to get the country out of recession. This does, unfortunately mean taxes increasing in some way or another :( Don't like it but it's necessary :(

It's pretty much a lose lose situation for everyone, whoever wins. Apart from the MPs of course who, despite the reforms, will always make sure they're okay. And the super rich who just leave the country if forced to pay a fair amount of tax.

Ah well... things can only.... stay the same...

When you say 'public spending' do you mean you and me the general public or do you mean the 'public sector'. Hope you mean the former lol since public sector spending all comes out of our taxes. I think we need private sector spending to really make a difference :)

So you think its ok to keep spending more and more on the non productive part of the economy ??? we as a country need to make things to sell to other countrys, could you borrow limitlesly to spend personaly ??? how long would the banks and credit companys go along with you, taxes discorage people trying to better themselves!!! low taxes get people wanting to work and start busssineses
and that is what will help the economy not spending money that we havent got on more petty penpushers and useless IT systems..
