Our 15yrs dog has been ill since Boxing Day when she was bit off colour in morning and looked awful in the evening. Diarrhea and no appetite. Vet came out and gave antibiotics and steroids and she did inprove. She picked up a bit but then went back down hill. Monday night looked bad again and was sick and then Tuesday she ate 3 meals but today not eating again. Have spoken to vet who will do bloods tomorrow but he thinks that she probably over did the eating yesterday. I was reading about a virus that does come back again?? Other dog is fine. Any one???

Yup- whippet was off food about a week before Xmas, even refused sardines! Vet visit, no blockage/infection/dehydration, so just tummy upset tablets for a week. One day with a runny tummy, but that was it. Perked up after 6 days, then next day vomiting, lethargic, but still keen to go for walks/bunny chasing. Seems to have perked up again, demanding food. I put him onto three small meals a day, all wet food, now added now much wanted sardines, but keeping a close eye, with crossed fingers!

That does sound similar! She hasn't wanted to go for any walks but she is 15! Sleeping all day today-not that unusual for her but she is normally a pig.

Yes, mine also slept and slept (even for a whippet!). He was also very clingy and worried looking. I also noticed a drippy nose, and that that he seemed a bit wheezy. He has lost weight, but not awful amounts, but looks worse on an already-skinny one. So he's now always tucked up in a blanket, and gets to wear his coat on walks :)

He was pretty sorry for himself too- I was more concerned with keeping his fluids up, so hence the wet food, also boiled chicken, and the water I boiled it in (that soon got slurped up!). I would say its been just under two weeks of being a bit off, and he's only two, so as yours is a bit older, maybe she's feeling it more? Hope she feels better soon x
