Anyone else worried about lack of grass/weather?

On heavy London clay here with our main turn out field totally like the mud at a gate so moved them to another field and with one section A and 13.2 going out for 2 hours followed by a heard of 2 unshod ponies, one shod and a shod horse for 4 hours its already knee deep at the gate :( Our driving/riding field looks like a paddy field.

My old y/o always shut the fields for the whole of April, rolled & harrowed them and left to recover. Always had grass to nibble all year and we were told this when we looked round so it was never unexpected.

Our lot are out 24/7 over winter too, and usually there's thick mud at gateways but otherwise not too bad. This year te fields look plowed. We do have summer grazing which looks ok, but am more worried about the fact that, with the cold, the boys have been eating more haylage than usual... And u can't buy it for love nor money! Hope it lasts until we have some grass...
