Or is it just my dog who's a total wuss?

Seriously! He's not keen on being bathed but puts up with it as he gets a treat at the end, he'd rather hand on grimly than go out in the garden in the rain, but if he really can't he'll step outside the door and spend the grand total of a minute out there! He dives for cover if we get caught in the rain outside, and whenever we go to the beach dips his toes in, walks in until about chest-deep and then gallops out of the water, and starts all over again! Only just thought of it because it started raining while he was outside and then was in like a shot, and after he came in spend his time rubbing against my jeans drying to dry himself off!
Any tips on how to get him to man up, or will he always be a bit dopey? :p xx

Yeah my dog isn't totally different, hes OK in rain but absolutely will not even consider walking through a puddle... but he'll voluntarily wander into lakes now as I threw his favourite toy in one a few times and he's realised he's not going to drown. Still wont swim!
Unless you turned the rain into something awesome (such as ooh its raining again! lets go have a game in the garden!!!!) then he'll probably carry on opting for the warm, dry indoors. Don't blame him really ;)

Haha never tried playing a game outside in the rain - not a fan of it either! :p Ahhh well, always did think my dog was slightly camp, he's been known to wash his feet in his water bowl and yet he'll refuse to step in a puddle?! xx

Chloe is terrified of it. Hoping to fix this tomorrow by walking into the sea with her on a lead! Wish me luck!

Jack goes around puddles/mud, won't go out in the rain unless forced (and I mean even on a lead to pee in the garden) and might walk in the surf at the beach if he has to but not so it will reach his belly.

He fell into the canal as a youngster and sunk (thankfully on a lead so he was out in seconds)

He's going for hydrotherapy soon, if that doesn't cure it nothing will :p

My very nice but dim JRT (I know, not typical of the breed :D ) doesn't do water - or dark, snow, fireworks, thunder, horses, rabbits etc etc but that's another story - she won't walk in the rain, just climbs your legs to be carried under a coat. She will try to walk sideways up a bank to avoid a puddle and if she can't get round it will stay on the other side until she's lifted over - 3 hours is the longest I've left her before I've given in and carried her:o. If she has a drink from a brook or stream she nearly has her front legs behind her back legs so her paws don't get wet....she's 13 this year so I've more or less learnt to work round her many dislikes and just consider her a bit "special".

My rottie has been going to hydrotherapy for the past year and is now a devoted water hound:) Previously he would only ever have 3 paws in the water (one kept on dry land at ALL times) and now every drop of water has to be splashed in...
