Ponio has come in with about 15 small swellings on his side, one is weeping and the others look a bit scabby. About the size of my fingernail.

Any ideas?

Have scrubbed with dettol and covered in equisalve, but he's never had them before?! Odd!

Weeping hives are more likely to be either an allergic reaction to something she's rubbed up against or a sweat rash she has itched. Very few insect bites result in weeping. Have you tried piriton or similar?

I did wonder if it was an allergy, but they are a bit randomly spaced out for him to have rubbed against something, plus he had a rug on. Unless its something he's eaten, but hes just on grass at the mo so it can't be anything we've given him. Strange!

Mine is suffering with insect bites at the moment, in really random places as well, had a cluster on his hock the other day. I'm going crackers with the calamine which seems to help.

Exact opposite! Don't seem to be having a problem at all.......so far!

Same here... I've been waiting to leap into action with sweet itch suffering pony who came to us last summer virtually mane and tail less with sore, bald patches... Nothing so far this spring so really hoping his reaction might have had some environmental factor (more rape, arable farming and lower flat land in the area he came from) that isn't going to affect him so badly here...

*touches wood* :D
