Anyone elses horse bonkers at the moment

Yep!! Mouse is nearly 20 and decided it would be fun to turn into a bucking bronco pony on the weekend! (While I was riding!) His final huge buck had me on the floor and i later found out i had a broken wrist... :/ He's definitely got that spring feeling!!

Nope ;-)

My girlie was amazing this morning - finally think all those 5.30am schooling sessions are starting to work!

Nope. My 6 year was jumped on Saturday and had combined training analysis yesterday. He is currently cross eyed and snoring in his stable. One of the funniest things was watching his face when he came back from the SJ, all cocky and thinking he was finished, only to walk straight past the lorry and onto the XC ground. Priceless!

So bonkers horses are just getting like that as I think the vast majority of people have probably had a pretty hit and miss work regime with this blinking weather. I did find myself up a bank on Friday with mine which is not normal but I think he will be on his very best behaviour for the rest of the week now!

YES!!:eek: On sunday we hacked solo on grass for the first time in ages - I got jogging, spinning, leaping, bucking and then a crow flew out of a tree!! Shock, horror - I must stand on my hind legs now :(:(

Today, somehow 3 little ACP tablets slipped into his breakfast  and I have just had a marvellous ride, lots of cantering and some small XC jumps, no problemo - and we opened and closed 3 gates successfully for the first time ever!!

I think my youngster is just superfit and has spring fever :D

yep definitely!

My 2 usually forward going but sane cobs are definitely full of the joys of spring, one of them in particular is taking on the roles of red rum with an occasional episode of rodeo pony lol

My horse is bonkers at the moment too! When I was riding this weekend he was so forward going.. Felt like he was about to tank off at any minute! Then when i was turning him out he shot off before I had a chance to unclip the leadrope. Must be something in the air!

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes :) :)

Took my horse in the school on Friday, had a nice 10 minute walk then asked for trot, well she bucked, farted, bounced & bounced & bucked & galloped - had to aim her at the fence to stop her, don't know how I stayed on. I got off, walked to the top, picked up the lunge line and went in the school again and lunged her. As soon as I asked for canter she went off on one again. Lunged her for 20 mins then got back on and she was a lot better. Apparently she was the 4th horse that acted that way in the school that week.

Took her out in the trailer with a friend on Sunday for a different hack with a lovely steep hill. We cantered up the hill and the little sod bucked up the hill.

Need some velcro for my jods

Im glad other horses are going mad,
My little section b for the last week has tried to buck, and race any horse i ride out with, he has been a nightmare.
My other pony who is totaly bomb proof, and never spooks, is spooking.

Sorry this made me giggle! :D I've had to do the same a few times too! Fresh beastlings

One of mine has definetely got a spring in his feet riding in the fields this weekend. The other one doesn't believe in wasting the energy :-)

Yup- sharp, fresh and VERY forward, none of which are his normal settings. My instructor says to USE the extra energy to my advantage -

Ouch, sorry about your wrist, you have beaten me:
20 y.o. bucked me off 5 mins after I got on, thigh black and blue, lump like an egg on each knee and right knee twisted.

Reacher- that sounds painful, I hope you bruises heal soon!!! I managed to stay on mouse through most of his bronking but the sly old git threw in one last massive bronc and I went sailing over his head and landed flat on my back! Not even sure what I did to my wrist but it sure is painful!

My ISH mare was definitely channeling her TB genes yesterday, but thank God she doesn't buck or anything like that or I'd be eating dirt for sure! She's arthritic and I've recently added devil's relief to her diet 3-4 times a week,(in addition to Cortaflex) I thought maybe it was that, but perhaps it's just that she can feel Spring on it's way. At last! Hallelujah!

eta, hope everyone who is injured is soon feeling better!

LOL at some of the replies, i wouldnt say my boy was bonkers but he is definately feeling really good, Sunday we had our first gallop across a field since Sept last year and he had great fun!

I do like it though, its nice to have him feeling good and enjoying himself :)

What a relief there are others! Mine just mad at the moment. Went to school on Sat, another livery who does western riding was in there. My Irish twit freaked at his silly cowboy hat :D and galloped off around the school. I thought maybe best to go out for hack. Left school went to shut gate and he did a rodeo across carpark! Very squeaky bum moment :D Trotted him almost to next village until realise I had no phone or fluorescent on :eek:

Yes! My 23-year-old has been practicing is 180 spins!! Usually caused by spooking at his reflection in either the school mirrors or car windows!!!

Mine have been very sedate until today when the three minis decided that they were going to have a mad hour of chasing each other, the dog and even the birds landing on their field. They were bucking and rearing and generally acting very silly. My two big horses just looked on as if the little ones had completely lost their minds with the look of 'we never behave like that!'

My jazzy is still a superstar. He's on box rest at the moment (foot abscess) and on high energy food for weight gain and is still a perfect gent whilst being ridden on gentle hacks to give him a stretch of legs. He's only on box rest to keep his foot clean and off the mud. He was a bit jiggy in the field the other day but did some fab schooling work :)

Oh, but apparently, "he has no brakes" in the immortal words of the YO at my last livery yard I was at. Jazzy has been a lot of other people's brakes when theirs failed!!! He really is a good boy :)
