Despite being out in the snow from 10 to 4.00 p.m playing, rolling, eating grass under the snow and eating hay, my horse just doesn't seem able to believe his eyes and was wanting to rush around the yard to make sure the snow was everywhere. He managed to get away from me so he could stand and stare at the front field over a gate, all white, and then after I caught him again and put him in the stable he was too excited to eat his tea properly. His neighbour just tucked into his hay as normal.

He spent quite a lot of time cantering round and snorting, and staring into the distance. He has seen snow before. Maybe not quite as much as today, but he seem to be getting silly as he get older and not more sensible as you would hope.

ye mine was the same, even tho he'd been out in it for a couple of hours we had to stop every other step on the way in from the field to stare and snort. was quite cute really, kept looking at things covered in snow then looking at me as if to 'WTF IS GOING ON!'

turn them out and let them look! and drop all bucket food down to fibre dont think anyone is going to do anything (unless you have an indoor) in the next few weeks!

Mine are having a ball! Can't keep the colt in his field as the snow is now a foot deep thus making the fences smaller - so much for the now 5 foot fences keeping him in

Luckily my mares aren't in season - even so I'm going to get them jabbed just in case. Might as well leave them together until the snow goes - should make it less stressful. Imperial thinks all of his christmases have come at once!!! He'll tire himself out eventually ;)

My yearling and two year old fillys are looking but being sensible my three year old fell wants to eat as much as he can bit worrying but he is greedy, colured cob and sec d arent fussed.
My three senior sec as have declined to come out of their barn in to thier paddocks and my sons 20 year old sec b who has seen snow many times has taken to jumping out of the paddock next to the open access barn and escaping in to the belly high snow and running around like a possesed thing to the point of refusing to come back for food or water so we had to lock him in for a few days as he was dropping weight thankfully it is melting a bit so the evil ginger rat can be released to fulfill his wanderlust.
You never can tell what they will do and dont expect it to be the same every year.:)
