Went up to finish my poo picking at 6pm and it was really windy at the yard, horses were fine. then the boy came over for a scratch and to have his fly mask taken off!! I then walked off with the barrow, turned around and he was galloping towards me! so I got him to stop, he had a wild look in his eye and up he went, rearing like a wild stallion! then ran off to the mare, got her involved in it all!

at the same time, him and the shettie got down and had a roll, they both jumped up off the floor and went flying around like complete loons!

I wouldn't mind normally but my mare kicked the boy earlier, right in the hock and cut it, nothing bad but he does swell up really easily!!

anyone else's horses acting crazy with the wind and rain? I wonder if its the yard? its not been this windy since we've moved to this yard!

:rolleyes:Glad its not just mine then, he came over to me like a lunatic, rearing and prancing around! When I went to lead him in I got dragged along, totally lost the plot, just because of a bit of wind and rain!

Yup. They can sense the change in the season and the chance to be a loon without the heat and flies is tooooooo tempting!

Ha! Yes, ours were a little on edge this evening. They're in the 'far field' at the moment so a bit of a walk across our other field and it's a bit more hilly and 'rugged'. There is a big old ash tree at the top of the field they love to stand under (in the shade when it's hot and to get away from the rain). Tonight though it would seem the ash tree had decided to drop one of it's larger branches so they were all freaked out!! Cue, lots of prancing about and not being able to take their eyes off it (we feed them nearer the bottom of the field). the old pony (boss) was doing some impressive snorting as well as moving extremely well considering he's been having some mobility issues recently. The only one not bothered and who seemed to be the calming influence was our 29 yo TB. The other 3 seemed to be relying on him to show them 'the way' safely across the field! :)

I am pretty sure come the morning said branch will be completely stripped of its leaves and I bet the old TB will be the first omne to brave it towards it!! Lol :D

Lol, yes my boy and his field buddy were having a great time being colts this evening! Hooning about, rearing up, boxing, etc... But add a human to the field and they are both very considerate :)

oh good glad its not just me then haha! I was very impressed with my old girl getting involved! at 28 shes finally chilled out and doesn't run around too much anymore but she had a good go tonight!!

unfortunately my "ball-less stallion" thought I would play rearing up with him, so I had to shoe him off haha!

Yeah mine also, went up about 3.30 to poo pick & take masks off & all they wanted to do is play. Would have a nibble of grass then start randomly charging around!

oh pleased its not just mine then, thought she was losing the plot! took her to the field this morning getting dragged when shes normally well mannered, normally when i let her off she will trot off then eat but today she was bucking and broncing for a good 5-10 minutes, cantering towards me then running off at the last minute. then on our hack before she reared and bunny hopped which she never does, spooked at everything, and nearly had me off trying to run off in the other direction because there was a rock on the floor! then she had a good prance all the way home. horses whod have 'em! oh well a fun day to say the least, think this wind sends them a bit phyco;)

Nope, I schooled my boy in the crazy wind and he was absolutely fine, but then not much phases him anyway. He did look when a jump wing blew over though lol
