Hi

My normally totally laid back cob gelding has suddenly gone spooky and silly.

No change in feed (handful of chaff twice a day) but has gone onto a field with more grass, and has been fully clipped this week.

Could this be it do you think?

My lad is the same - I have not clipped him yet as he is not woolly enough. But I have put his extra spookiness down to a) the fresh grass from all the rain we have had b) its pretty windy in our area ATM and c) when its hot he normally can not be bothered to play up, it has cooled down a bit too.... :D

I hope he does. I don't like the feeling of riding something that might explode at any moment.

Then I get annoyed with myself for not riding him better so he just gets over it.

:(

Mine was nutty today!! He was having a complete stress and was physically shaking. I fought on and rode though and he was very good

Mine is fine, but his mate (who is usually the most steady, bombproof, sensible etc etc) was a bit strange today. We went the usual route for our Saturday hack and he was really spooky - first at a bloke with two big dogs (loose - grr!), he wouldn't pass until the fella took them right into the wood!! Then again at a woman and a girl with two smaller dogs (again, not on a lead and going bonkers

Then he had a major spook - sideways spinning and heading for home! I have NEVER seen him do that! We couldn't see what on earth had set him off!

(his mum said he was a bit grumpy while she was grooming him earlier, so maybe something's up?)

Hugo just looked at him as if to say "What the .... ?" - he's such a brilliant boy! <3

Actually mine had a bit of a turn yesterday when leaving another horse on a hack. Now we have done this many times with a friend split off to go home in different directions and he has always been fine as he knows he is going home. Well I had a nightmare ride home - he went to pieces, calling and wanted to head back to him.....I made it back to the yard, but it was a very stressfull 20 mins getting back there!
