Took Hattie out on a hack yesterday with my son on his bike and the young girl who shares the old pony we have.
Well, Hattie was absolutely USELESS!!!!

Hattie is fine on her own and fine hacking out with the old pony, but when my 8 year old son comes with use, she refuses to do anything unless she can see him.

She refused to canter in our usual cantering spots as my son was behind us (and she ALWAYS is keen to go fast!). Then when we reached the gallops, my son waited by the gate while we rode around the field and she tried to tear across to him.

Then when weere were riding home and my son was at the front, she was so busy trying to catch up with him and faffing about working herself up to catch up with him, that she tripped and scraped up her right knee (note to self, always wear knee boots when riding out with my son)!

She's always good out on hacks and does like my son at the front on his bike but yesterday was ridiculous, like some freaky attachment!

Is my mare jut weird or is it just mares in general???!!!

my horse (gelding) has a soft spot for my two year old. when i go to see him in the field, he'll saunter over casually... but if i take my son, he canters over... when we poo pick, he follows my son round. i do wonder if it's cos he looks like he's got a pile of hay on his head (see photo below)

I don't have any children for them to be attatched to but they love my OH. My pony will always go say hello to him and totally ignore me, thankfully my horse is a mummy's boy so I am not left totally rejected

But if we go for a hack with my OH and dog they are always behind and Sty just will not do anything other than a very very slow walk unless they are in front then he will follow them.
