Anyone elses horses moulting

It has been a mild winter only 2 slight frosts all winter so far.(West Wales)
All 4 horses live out 24/7 loads of grass and an open barn accessed from the fields with some hay in for when the weather is bad.
I was amazed when I groomed all 4 today they are moulting The Cob/tb the most but the other 3 an arab an andasian and t/b are starting to throw off some coat .
They are all rugged not heavily the cob and Andy in lightweight and the other 2 in m/w as they are 20 and 26 and I need to keep weight on them as they can drop quickly in winter and are hard to get it back on once they loose it.
I need to keep them rugged as they are ridden and although no mud they are often wet given the current spell of weather!
Not worried just surprised They often start early around early Feb if it is mild but early January must be a record.

Yep my 9yr old ISH is started about 2 weeks ago but my welshies won't star til mid summer!😀😀
 
Yes - one of my welshies is shedding - but not the rest. Stallion will start very soon though. He's usually in full summer coat by end of March!
 
Mine started on his head 2 weeks before Xmas (I only clip half a head to the bridle line, so this was the fur I noticed)! I therefore did his last clip before Xmas as I guessed he must be starting to prepare for summer early. I too hope he knows something I don't!!!
 
My horse (who grows a very thick winter coat) started losing her summer coat in June, so it would figure that in another six months (December-ish) she would start to lose her winter coat. But no, she's holding onto it firmly, no moulting yet.
