I was given one to keep my T/B type company. She cowered in the hedge at the far end of the field for at least a week. I had taped him in small area so that she could not bully him, and on reflection this was probably just as well cos she would have gone through/over something if he had approached her! It took at least 2 weeks for her to go and stand by him.
All my others have loved him though, but the SJ's up the road sometimes had a problem if they spotted him in the garden.
My sister has him now and her big warmblood mare was besotted as soon as she spied him, to such an extent that he was blamed for her subsequent bad dressage scores. Apparently she could no longer concentrate!
There are some in a field on one of our main hack routes. Dylan used to stare at them a bit - although I think that was because they used to come cantering over to the fence and whinny at him - but never seemed to be actually scared of them.
i think i should get one and make java share a field with one!
then he will realise they are not so scary!
Although I have to say they did frighten me a bit aswell as they suddenly came running to the gate (you cant see in the field apart from through a very tall 7ft hedge) and there was two of them cantering in circles to see him
My 15.2hh mare has always been bullied by other horses so now I turn her out with my herd of minis and she loves it. She looks a bit like Gulliver as the tallest of them is 34 ins, but they all move if she pulls a face so she is happy.
