Groomed the pony last night and on her sides are like mats where the hair hasn't shedded because her rug has been on. (She is groomed everyday when rugged)
And again today! Its coming out in handfuls! I filled her little feed skip with just her hair!
I HATE moutling with a passion and may clip her sooner then expected
Its making her very itchy, the shedding blade is her new best friend!
Anyone elses horses shedding like this?

yes, lots and lots of short white hairs everywhere when i groom her, its like snow! then of course i'm covered in the hair and am not allowed inside untill i get the hair off me  clippers are coming out soon :D

Mine has already shed hers:eek: She usually has a really pathetic excuse for a winter coat, really flat and fine. However, she has already grown quite a fluffy coat across her back:confused:
Hope this is not a sign of things to come!!

Shedding and winter coat here all in one go, it kind of grew all in one night so hes still moulting. Its great as its the only time I can give him a good groom as hes itchy as hes very sensitive skinned and hates being brushed normally

My boy certainly is! He didn't shed like this last year and it's quite early for him! There is a thread here about this winter being harder than last and snow in Oct, maybe the horses know it's going to come true!!! eek! :D

Mine is a WB and I bought her this time last year. I don't remember her shedding at all really!! She had a very fine winter coat last year too.. She is getting a fluffy coat through. I think they know something we don't!

Blimey, never mind shedding like mad - the old banger did that in July. Now sporting a lovely woolly winter coat which will continue lengthening and thickening until January. Currently at the yak stage, mammoth stage approaching :)
