Well the past 2days my usually sensible lad had been so spooky out hacking! very fresh and hard to talk any sense into! And they are all being complete ******* in the fields! Anyone else noticed a change in their neds?!

My normally half dead horse had an absolute dicky fit on me yesterday for absolutely no reason- took me totally by surprise!

Tinkers aren't they! Mine is very forward thinking and has been very spooky in the past, but these past 2 days its almost like he's reverted back to his demon 3 year old ways!

Yup - Kal is on fire at the moment . . . a nut in the field (much to the confusion of his two very sedate fieldmates who just watch him, look puzzled and put their heads back down), a complete idiot to hack and really rather spooky in the school. Still, it's nice to see him with a spring in his step after he was so flat for that little while during the summer (we now think he may have had a virus - bless him).

I have taken him off his micronized linseed - he doesn't need any more energy and he is in wonderful condition . . . he has plenty of good autumn grass, loads of this year's hay and is still getting ERS Pellets, Blue Chip and Alfa A Molasses Free (so isn't starving).

It's a good thing that a) I'm banned from riding until I am no longer broken (by my doctors); and b) Z (his jockey) likes him lit up like a firecracker ;).

Yes I'd say its a good job! I didn't ride this time last year through pregnancy! So took me by surprise when he threw his toys out because a woman was waving a car out and had the mother of all paddys on the road! No feed for mine just a bit of chop and some vits and minerals I'd really be asking for trouble if I gave him anything else! Haha

Yes, mine is the same. Threw her toys out of the pram on a hack yesterday (ok, there was a tractor behind the hedge at the pig farm making a hell of a lot of noise) and she is in a mad rush and spooky to get out to the field on a morning. Doesn't help that we now have a construction site at the bottom of the field (thanks Network Rail!).
I just stick my hat on to take her out, once the grass has died off and doesn't taste so nice, I'm sure she'll be back to normal!!

Yep, mine wouldn't let me get on today, kept squealing and stepping away. Quick whizz on the lunge did the trick but big powerful trot when riding and kept cantering. Little minx she is!

Mine havent changed. I fell a bit left out now :(. Oh hold on, had a little think whats the big one's like when his fresh, no i'm glad he hasnt noticed its autumn yet :)

Chloe had an absolutely diva strop when I was taking her into the school the other night, she practically barged right through me and then proceeded to bounce several times up and down, the reason-a van parked outside had its bonnet open! Took her to the gallops on Friday, cue more bouncing until half way up she decided she'd quite like to trot and was like "Are your sure you want me to gallop the whole way?" :p

Yep mine was a little *****. started having a tantrum in the middle of the road never ever known a horse nap as bad! she normally sorts herself out with a brush of the whip or even just me shouting but today every time i told her off she bucked! hmm and why do we have horses again? ;)

My little mare was on a mission on our hack this morning, walking so fast our 16hh hacking buddy had to trot to keep up!

The babby certainly is, though he's very forward by nature, and the old man has been very on his toes when I've been bringing him in and out from the field. Pip on the other hand is very calm!!! He's been doing lots though, give it time ;)

I wonderif it's the sudden change in the weather too, been lots of mad loon behaviour in fields and generally most on the yard where I keep mine have been on their toes at one time or another this weekend - one almost doing handstands which were most spectacular to watch. I forgot about the autumn flush though....

I found a vertical hoofprint in a pile of pushed up mud where my gelding and another reside and slide/skid stop marks that were about 4 foot long lol

Two are still ok, bit nutty today in the wind & rain but nothing too crazy - mare has gone insane but is also off work due to yet another injury, so is a nightmare to handle at the mo!

Yep. Bonkers. Went to say hello to my dopey filly... Tried to double barrel me!!! Well, I decided to go bonkers too and chased her round the field with me coat. Twice I've had to do that this yer. Gah!!!

Yep - my 23-year-old nearly had me off twice in the space of 5 mins spooking at nothing in the arena this afternoon. I decided that it was probably a good idea to get off and go and do some groundwork in the roundpen instead!

Well I'm glad it's just not my 5 that's gone bonkers, getting fed up picking up their dropping and putting the bloody divots back, as it's put 3/4 hour on what use to be 1/2 hour job.:(

Nope...but then my 6 year old is only on day 5 of his walking work and quite frankly he is finding it rather exhausting. Yard are delighted as his manners have improved overnight now he is working again!

I am so glad to hear other people are experiencing this! My normally chilled out mare is being a twit. Spooking coming out of the field, spooking at nothing on hacks. Feel a bit better now though!

The joys!
