Really struggling this week to find any motivation to ride my two horses or do anything more than basic care with them. Nights are drawing in, have two this year instead of one to muck out when they come in soon, been promoted at work so working long days and generally don't feel prepared for it all.

Had such a good summer with lots of competing including winning CT at Trailblazers with my old boy after building up from zero confidence jumping. We've gone back a step recently with jumping again so sad about that. I do realise I'm so lucky to have two horses but am annoyed with myself for being so grumpy and unappreciative.

I think I need to hibernate!

Anyone else struggling? Or any tips for how to get back on track?!

Yes ME ! Just had 4 days away, got back to day from hell at work and I know I should have ridden but I've just gone to bed to look through Jobserve instead :)

Not at all - that is why hunting was invented!

Both mine are out autumn hunting twice each this week - I am turning up to work with big black bags under my eyes, but well worth it!

I'm a bit weird. I am getting my motivation back! I love this time of year, autumn sun, not too hot for my horse that hates the heat, no flies, they're still not in at night. I know winter is round the corner, but until its really bad I am quite happy. I have a job that takes me away for a few days then gives me a few days off, so I can either ride or I can't - there is no riding after work for me, so perhaps that's why it doesn't bother me as much?

Not yet!! Weather still good :-) I struggle in December/January and generally he gets a month off with occasional hack/lunge 2/3 times a week now I work normal hours and don't have to work weekends it has made winter life slightly easier :-)

Quite the opposite! Winter is my free time from work, I am a self employed motor sports photographer. Mine has the summer off as I am quite often abroad. Autumn things are winding down so I can start to get going again riding wise so I am really looking forward to lots of horsey time! Bring it on lol!

No. I love this time if year and don't really mind the dark in the evenings. I really hate January and February and get pretty depressed tbh, but the run into Christmas I tend to enjoy.

However I've recently started with a new share so my motivation is pretty high. And she's on part livery which is novel for me.

Also I get bad hay fever so don't much like the summer.

No, had my first win at the weekend and last 2 events of the season are coming up so very motivated. Nights seem to be drawing in quickly.

I wasn't, then rode my horse in the school with floodlights for the first time yesterday... Wouldn't dare go out of walk because the spooks were big enough just walking! Could just about manage 10m circles in the middle of the school without going near the lights!

Absolutely Yes! I don't know what is wrong with me but I just cant be bothered to do anything. I don't work a proper job but I have two children both of which are now in school but I just cant find the motivation to ride or even take my mare out for a walk. my girl had a break over the summer because we are just so busy as a family so I was really looking forward to getting back in the saddle but Ive barely ridden since they've all gone back to school. Im blaming it on darker mornings, earlier rises and Im thinking I might get some iron on the go just incase Im anaemic:)

Normally love autumn and don't mind winter but this year, after getting drenched yet again poo picking, lost all my love for outdoors.

nOT YET I AM TRYING TO HOLD OF THE WINTER BLUES! Ooops sorry for the caps lock! I am trying o make the most of the little light we do have left.. i too find it most hard in Dec/Jan mid winter.. i get so depressed that i cant ride my horse properly in the wek due to being at work and it being dark before and after work.. :( do enjoy looking after the horses though although.. i will try and remind myself i jsut said that when im cold.. knee deep in mud at 6am and tackling mud fever again in the coming months.. uurgh!
