We had a note once, to let us know that a neighbour was having fireworks one night - really nice of them to let us know, and they gave us an approximate time. It was late summer so all the horses were out at night.

We decided to nip over to the yard to have a quick check at 10pm when they were going to be going off. Found all the horses standing in a line in the field, ogling the display

I think the key is (generally) if they can see them they aren't scared by them. Sometimes if they can just hear the bangs but can't see anything it makes them worry. But horses like watching stuff like that if they don't feel threatened. When they see it, they can see that it's a long way off and can equate what they see with the noise so most seem to be ok with it IME, in fact like you said, a lot seem to positively enjoy it!

Ours seem to enjoy watching them, between grazing to keep the hunger pangs at bay. We get a 360 degree display around our field

Yep, mine too. Not bothered at all.

We live at the top of a steep valley and have a panoramic view.Fireworks often go off just as they are on a level with us. We have had seven horses here over the years who have all seemed to enjoy watching them, even those who you would have thought were frightened of their own shadow!

Yup, the old girl will stand in her stable on NY eve (us in yard swigging champagne) watching all the local firework displays, quite interested and not at all bothered. This is amazing as she is a very spooky horse and will not go within 3 feet of a plastic bag (even with carrots and apples in it).

How strange they all are as Pearlsasinger just said......!
