anyone elses OH work away from home?

my OH has been travelling to Paris for work. He had been going 1 week in 5, but now he has to go every week for 4 days min. This coming week he has a course, so has gone tonight and won't be back till next Saturday.

We are currently renovating our new house and it is more of a building site then a house!!! also bloody freezing.

I am finding my self resenting him for going to a cosy hotel while I am here project managing the renovations and freezing cold.

Anyone else have a OH who works away from home in the week? how do you deal with it? do you find you resent them? feel guilty for spending time with the horse at weekend because the OH is only around for 2 days?
 
Not the same thing at all really... but I work away from home and don't feel guilty spending time with the horses at weekends.

Mine goes on a Mon morning and comes back Fri night, I love having time on my own and never get lonely, i have dog and 2 horses that keep me busy! I work part time so have time to ride etc in the week and my oh tends to come help me at the weekend so dont feel too guilty! I do tend just to do the basics at the weekend other than if im competing when im out all day but he doesnt mind and does come with me sometimes. Its about getting in a routine and finding a happy balance!
 
Yes, my OH leaves at 5am on a Tuesday morning and gets back at 5pm on Thursday.

I have 2 children, 2 dogs and a horse to care for. I don't work, I don't have the time

I resent the fact that my horse doesn't get as much attention as she deserves whilst he is away

. She either gets put on full livery (not ridden) if cold, or myself and my youngest go up and muck out (she is on part livery). I pop my little girl on and lead her round, just so my mare gets some leg stretch.

To be fair, my OH does feel guitly for being away so much and he has no problem with the time I spend with my horse at the weekend.
 
My OH works away 4 days a week,and has the other 3 off. It's bliss actually,as I love my own company and have got 2 kids (14 and 2),2 cats,one dog and 5 horses to sort.

I never feel guilty at weekends....!
 
My oh goes at 5 am mon and returns at 1pm sat. I dont feel guilty at all. I manage the house, dog,cat, rabbits and neddies all week o my own!! He does have his own hobby too, needless to say we dont argue, dont see each other often enough lol!!
 
My Oh does 3 on 3 off so away 3 days home 3 days, I have a son (18) at home plus the dogs and cats, so not alone and of course can stay longer at he yard without feeling guilty!

I'd like to find someone who did work away from home - couldn't be doing with a full time relationship! Funnily my ex has been sniffing around again and he lives miles away so we are talking about trying him down with us fri-mon, which sounds ideal to me, that's if we can stand each other again! (We've been divorced now for 7 years!)
 
My OH leaves at 5.30am on a Monday and doesn't get back till 6 on Friday. I just got used to it. I lived on my own before that so I'm used to coping on my own.

I work full time and have 2 horses and 2 dogs to keep me out of mischief!!
 
My OH gets sent away randomly with little notice, to all parts of the globe. Its mabye not at all for 3 months and then maybe twice in one month. Last week he got sent to Leicester (from Edinburgh) for 3 days with less than 24 hours notice, after being down there for 4 days two weeks before. Two weeks prior to Christmas he was sent to Idaho for 3 days, except it took him 5 days travelling in total to get there due to delays and cancellations.

I don't resent my OH for it, but I resent his job for it. I think they are taking him for a fool. He is supposed to be the design engineer, not the repairer, but they made the repairer redundant, so he is having to do jobs. Different if he got a bonus or something for working away from home.

He also spends more money when he is away and its awkward too because we run a rental property business and he can't fix anything if it goes wrong, so I have to get tradesmen in at additional expense...
 
My OH works away from Monday to Friday, we have a horse each on DIY livery. He gets told on a Friday what he is doing for the next week and can work from home sometimes, when he is at home he helps as much as possible. I work full time as a nurse and look after the horses on my own when he is away, I don't mind too much but his horse misses him! My work are quite flexible and I start work at 10am most days so I can get everything done in the mornings, and I leave them turned out as much as possible throughout the year.

, so I have to do the minimal when hes at home, or he just rows with me, about how much time they take up, which is about 5 hours a day, So I can see his point. (seven horses inside to muck out, hay, water, feed, Im a full time groom!!!!!!!!, and dont get a penny for it!!

tamba I feel your pain. My OH can't see why I don't get a goldfish!!! So when he is home it is just the basic stuff I do with the pony! Can't grumble too much as I am supported 100% (apart from the horse) while I am back at uni as a mature student.
