Anyone else's pony still holding on to winter coat?

My mare had a good old mould the other week but it seems her winter coat comes in 2 layers. The really long fluffy stuff has gone but she still has a good covering of mid length winter coat and it doesn't look like it's going to shift any time soon.
She was blanket clipped so is currently two-tone, the new summer coat is coming through black but her old (slightly bleached) winter coat is dark brown and hanging on in there.
Do I get paranoid and start looking at cushings tests or is anyone else's pony still holding on to some winter coat?
She is 13 and a 'native type' of unknown breeding.
 
No dont panic! Sometimes you get lucky, I have all natives and one is almost in full summer coat, others.. not so lol. This is still early for some native types to shed coat! I have had a few who hang on until end of May/June and then by August are growing winter coat again, that’s just natives.
 
Sounds about right...she is generally one of the first to grow her winter coat and then holds onto it for longer too. You'd think that being a fuzzy native she'd overheat but I guess its in her genes to be 'better safe than sorry' so as soon as we get a couple of autumn frosts she has her winter coat on and is prepared for a winter blast!
 
I have three at different stages of moulting - the Dutch pony has 99% shed her winter coat and is only holding on in those awkward spots like behind her jaw. Thankfully she's grown her clip lines out as it was an atrocious clip (done by loaner)!
The 7/8ths TB has stopped at an in between coat - he looks wintry but not untidy as such. Definitely not finished yet, though.
The other is half pony and looks awful, bless him! Clip lines, baby bum fluff all up his neck, still shedding like there's no tomorrow across all his rugged bits. His ears have finally shed and look lovely and sleek but the rest of him has a lot of catching up to do! He has Cushings (though he's only 8) so that may or may not have something to do with it.

The lesson I've learnt from this? Get my scruffy half pony fully clipped next Feb!!

My pony hangs on to his coat for as long as possible - he's currently wearing his summer coat from his neck to shoulders, has a fluffy head and a woolly cummerbund with a not so woolly backside. It takes ages to come out, and occasionally if it's very hot in June I clip it off. He's been tested negative for Cushings, I think he's just very cautious!

Yes, and that was with the full works grooming every day for weeks in the run up!

Interestingly the week before at a local show I saw lots of clip lines!

My appaloosa x cob is clinging to her winter coat like never before! She has a summer coat on her neck and head which is a spotty roan colour and thick winter coat on her back end which is almost white and spotty!! And shes got a mid trace clip.....very odd looking lol x
 
Yep...same here with the 'hanging on' and doing it in two stages as far as casting coats are concerned!!

We have a 'Summer head, neck and shoulders' and a second stage shorter winter hair still holding onto the stomach/rib area and bottom at the moment!

He is getting there and it is coming off, but it will be the end of the month before he's donning a full summer coat. Pretty much the norm for him....and Yes, he's always the first one to start putting up his winter coat again, usually around end of August time (depending on the weather!).
