Mine started off with a certain Ginger gelding on box rest for 10 weeks and then this week I went to see my surgeon after being told I needed a spinal fusion.... only to be told I can't have one and I have to put up with the pain and he'll review in 2 months time!!
I am currently on Tramadol and taking 8 tablets a day, I've been doing this for 3 years now. How much longer can this go on for???

Sorry for a depressing post! Just rather miffed :(And completely at a loss as to what to do

Wine and choccies for any one that reads this :D

Me! My partner of 4 1/2 years dumped me on New Year's Day and my horse is a nut case that is scared to leave the yard. So jealous of everyone that can hack problem free!

My theory is that it can only get better!! ;)

Erm, probably not allowed the wine but kinda given up on that idea and drinking anyway lol

I know what you mean Lauren, I am dying to ride again! Ollie is the only thing that is keeping me sane at the moment! Just wish I could have started his education instead he managed to kill his superficial tendon. I have even been thinking about finding a happy hack to try and take my mind off the rubbish that is my life at the moment!

Yes my year has got off to a pretty naff start too! Horse constantly throwing daily problems at me, one very moody teenager, and hubbys health a bit iffy so worried sick about him at the mo. Trying to think positive and stay strong just hoping it will last

Well not as bad as yours, but my 2011 has not exactly got off to a flying start either. Went down with flu on boxing day and am still not good! Also my mare went down with raging laminitis today.

Thanks but to be honest he was getting abit much! It got to the point that he was jealous of the horse? Did consider selling the horse the other day though as he could sense I was abit upset and seemed to lose his manners when being led! Blokes eh!

Onwards and upwards! Keep your chins up ladies! :)

Well last year ended with Blue going doolally when I tried to start walking her out in hand, on the 30th, so she has gone to a rehab centre where there is a huge horsewalker. I am thousands in debt cos of vets fees as insurance won't cover everything - like the hospital livery where she has been for about 3 months altogether, and I have £30 to last til the end of the month - beans on toast for me, I think! But I keep smiling anyway!

Chelle - surely it can only get better for you! Keep your chin up! (And if you drink with the tramadol, you probably won't need as many tramadol as the alcohol should increase their power!) x

mine! :(
Struggling with two horses after loaners of my mare let me down the week before xmas - havent ridden my youngster for over a week due to not having any time with two. Weather is miserable and no-one really seems interested in my mare for sale :(:(:(

Not good at all, Cappy has had 2 abscesses in 2 weeks! He has never been lame before

Work has gone insane and my health has gone down hill again.

Hoping it gets better for all of us, if not only 11 and a half months left :)

Has he said why they're not doing the op?

Gentle hugs.

Basically he started off by deciding what I thought was nerve pain still was tarsal tunnel nerve issues now, not nerve problems from the prolapsed disc they tried to correct last year! So has referred me to a foot surgeon on that matter.
Then on my lower back issues, he agreed that my spine couldn't cope with the pressure and that too much disk had been removed and left it very weak. But said that due to my age if he fused that disc then in 2-5 years time i would have issues further up my back! so didn't want to risk it :( I kindly explained that I had had this issue for 3 years now and had been one codine or tramadol ever since and that I had already lost one kidney and if I carry on with the painkillers I am at risk of damaging my final kidney. I nearly broke down in the surgery
He told me that he would review it in 2 months time and that I was not allowed to lift, shove or dig (opps I have a horse, how can I not do those??) and that I should walk more! Well I asked how I was supposed to walk more when every time I take a step my feet feel like they are going to snap and that I feel like I am walking on knives! It made me so angry! I have booked a GP appointment to brain storm other ideas to deal with it and have a second opinion coming on the 14th Feb! Hopefully I will get sorted but it's making me miserable at the moment!

How's Blue doing at rehab? I hope it gets better! :D

Me!!

All of the jobs I applied for before Christmas, have received rejection emails/letters. Have been unemployed since the summer after graduating. I finished with a good degree, I am a smart, reliable and hard working honest young person and nobody will employ me as I am either over qualified (and potential employers think I won't hang about), or I do not have enough experience (give me the chance!!). Thought 2011 would be a better year but not off to a great start :(

Also can't open my mouth properly due to TMJ disorder :(

Cat has glaucoma and needs an operation.

Not great- pony PTS this afternoon, ill dog. Expect it will improve soon ;)

So sorry for you :(

Mine.

Bought home on wednesday a rescued dog, he was neutered in the morning. Today we had to take him back to the vet as the wound was bleeding and very swollen. Poor boy had to have another GA today and spending a night at the vets, he is extremely confused and didnt want us to leave him at the vets.

This evening my mare developed colic for the first time ever, was a shock to say the least. When this horse doesnt eat you know you she is ill. But the vet came and gave her some drugs and within the hour of the drugs being given mare was back to normal. She is back in the field with a muzzle on for the night to reduce food intake. Ideally she would be in a stable but she goes abosolutely mental in one and likely to injure herself.

Fingers crossed that 2011 will not continue in this manner
