Anyone ever been riding in Aus?

Been out on bush rides on a cattle station - its fantastic. I was put on the loony horse being the only rider in the group but he was great. The sunrises and sunsets are stunning...in fact I was sorely tempted to stay on as a cattle hand for 3 months!
Don't know anything about endurance over there tho. Are you holidaying or emigrating? (Lucky you either way)

Thinking of emigrating. Trying to justify it even more! I've never even been there but want to emigrate it seems to have its attractions. I know that sounds a little blind but i have good friends and my OH's family out there.

Where did you go? Sounds great, i bet the sunsets/rises are stunning. Am i right in thinking the land is mostly covered in trees and you ride on tracks a lot?

Go! Most definitely. If I didnt have my horses I would be living there already. I travelled down the east coast from Cairns to Melbourne. The landscape is SO varied, there is everything from rainforest to beach to snowy mountains. The outback is amazing riding country though rather hot... we rode all over the place, tracks and no tracks, a few trees here and there but mostly dry grassland. Its just brilliant riding along past emus and kangaroos and cockatoos! Anyway I cannot recommend Aus enough, definitely get yourself on a holiday and check it out. I'm hoping to do the west coast soon.

i love Australia but would definatly go on holiday to check it out and make sure you like it!

the riding in australia is good and there are quite a few competion centres around/near Sydeney as faw as i saw but odviously it depends what you are into.

its a fab country though

My sister lived there for 7 years. She had a stud farm and training school with her OH who is one of the best horseman in the south of Australia.
The riding is excellent in the rural area's as less traffic and more wildlife to enjoy. Farriers are half the price and land is also cheaper to buy or rent if you move away from the cities.

yes yes yes lots and lots and love it, my family live there! going again in december. watch out for roos, the horses are as used to them as ours are of deer. flies are millions times worse than anythig you can imagine over here. get into the bush and you could be gone for days if you choose. whereabouts are you going, pm me!!!

totally agree with skye - check it out first, its a huge thing to do, huge transition and so different in so many ways. have friends emigrating (we will definitely too) and theyve never been but as much as i LOVE AUSTRALIA with all my heart, im not bias enough to just pack friends off there without advising they test it first!
