My OH thinks they sound brilliant, but I've never met one and there's not much info about them online. Are they a 'real' breed? Not after one just intrigued...

I met one at a husky meet and was not impressed. Bug-eyed, snipey little muzzle with poor dentition, basically a dwarfed husky but without any of the good looks.

I'm sure there are nicer ones out there but the whole ethos of reducing a sound working bred dog to a mini pet version kind of rankles with me. Plus there's already Finnish spitz/shiba inu/pomeranian type things if you want a small spitzy dog.

Agree ^^^ there are plenty of spitz breeds out there already, lots of Scandinavian breeds like Lapphunds and Vallhunds, and the German/Japanese/Finnish spitz etc.

Not met one I liked and I've seen a few at ARBA shows & other gatherings in the USA. Often a bit hyper & I agree on the bug eyes on the smaller ones.

There are far nicer Nordic/ spitz breeds.

So are they an American breed? All the web sites I saw were from the US. Interesting about them taking on a yappy bug eyed personality Hah!

There was a thread about them recently on a showing based forum.

It sounds like they are a recent breed, created in Alaska by an enthusiast and now getting recognised by various bodies.

Some people thought that they had temprament issues although this was disputed. They are being produced on a very commercial basis by some too....

Never met one but there's a breeder on the dog forum and several people asking for one. Dunno if it's the latest fashion dog?
