Anyone ever fixed an impossible to catch horse???

If you let him live his life with no or very little human contact, what would happen if he injured himself and needed veterinary treatment? Also how would you be able to worm, vaccinate and trim his feet?

Have you thought about a high dose of oral sedation disguised in food? Put it in a well mixed feed and leave him to eat it in peace so he stays relaxed as it wont work if he is upset and stressed. When he is sleepy and maybe slightly wobbly then gently herd him into his stable. Also once you have caught him, have you thought about tethering him, in a well fitted padded headcollar, this means that he cant run away from you and you can wind his rope/ chain in. Lots of horses adapt to being tethered,

The other option is making a very small round pen out of fencing and putting him in there as he wont be able to run away from you if you make it small enough and you may be able to earn is trust that way.

Im afraid there is no quick fix and if he is as nice a ride as you say he is then it will be worth persevering. Good luck.

Tont was impossible to catch, you couldn't get anywhere near him in the field and the only way to catch him was through the fact he hated being on his own.

When I first had him, I just spent monhs just spending time with him, not riding or anything just building a bond. Eventually, a year and a half later, he now trusts me enough to let me catch him

Well, this horse is very close to getting sent on a one way trip to the vets or a lifetime in a stable!

tried natural horsermanship, small fields (which he simply jumps out of), no water, no grass, no rug in sub zero temps, too heavy a rug in summer!
going into the field and waiting....12hrs later 20 fags and a packed lunch still no horse.
Erm, tried working him hard everyday, tried not working him, for a couple of months. been vetted, not pain related.

this horse is also for sale. 15.1 Lw cob. bay four white socks. 11 yr old. loves to hunt, jump hack and is good enough to show. 100% to box shoe clip traffic and handle. All this IF you can catch him!

Any takers??? or ideas? Or does anyone have a spare dart gun?? or any gun???

Has he got any feild companions? that are good role models, or do they run away aswell? You should try and put a well behaved horse with him and, when you cach them in bring a scoop of pony nuts, as they love food!
