Random Question I know, do I need to let the local police know do you think? Obviously there will be a number of cars following a certain route and stopping (only where it is safe!) Any ideas?

My village does one once a year and the police are informed but no 'action' is taken/required so I think it's wise to inform as all areas are different. We have about 100 cars taking part and it's a very rural area. All drivers receive a briefing before the start and are advised of rules about stopping and the areas to stop and get clues are big off road areas (like a pub car park or view point) which means there are no issues with congestion or obstruction. There is a question mark over motor insurance though, my policy states I am not insured if I use my car for a race (a timed event) and a treasure hunt is a race and it is a timed event so we're going to be having a chat with the police and a few insurers about that this year.

Can I just say it would be courteous to inform any householders en route as every year we seem to be a clue for a local hunt and we get endless cars stopping in the drive, people staring in, even had people running round our garden and they are all pretty cheeky about it. If we had warning it was going to happen we would be more tolerant of it.
