I noticed this several months back - and owners has since gone to vets to find out why the change in the shape of this dog's head. MRIs and thousands of pounds worth of vet bills and they can't find what's up. Anyone have any ideas?

Bless him. Has he been on any medication? I know steroids can change the shape of the muscles in the head, giving a kind of sunken look.

Hi

Thanks for the replies. I'll tell you a bit more now that I have some more details (and a few minutes to tell them).

The dog came in some months back and I noticed that one ear was visibly longer than the other. Upon closer inspection, it was not that one was longer, but that one was shorter! The one that's shorter has a slight swelling at the rear of the head that causes the ear to lift. I alerted the owner to it who had not noticed. It was very subtle at first, the picture above shows a much more dramatic change than what we first noticed.

The dog has glaucoma and other htan few wee skin issues, the dog is pretty healthy and happy. He's not had any other clinical signs of illness. They brought the dog to the Dick Vet who did MRI scans and overall examniation. The owner showed me the report when she came in yesterday to pick her dog up

One thing that was of particular interest was that when they looked in the ears, on the side that's higher they noted "a bunch of grapes" type of mass - not sure what that means but they didn't seem to think that it was of huge importance.

They're not doing anything about it as they don't see that other than one ear being longer than the other that it's affecting the dog.

This dog, for all inspections, seems as bright as a button, healthy(ish) - he does have some skin issues and warts between his toes, the glaucoma and the odd cysty thing. But mentally he seems really well. Nothing to suggest he's unwell.

It's just weird isn't it? Not particularly worried because as I've said, he seems well enough. But I'd wondered if anyone has ever seen anything like it?
